The Arcturus Railway Society is a YouTube channel started by singer-songwriter V-Alighieri. On it, he (inconsistently) posts his compositions and covers.
While the channel currently only features piano/voice songs, Tony plans to start a band in the near future.
The following tropes apply to Alkali Earth Metal:
- A cappella: Mysterious Colours Choir consists only of a few vocal lines with no accompaniment.
- I Am the Band: Currently, ARS only consists of one musician.
- "I Hate" Song: Creatures of the Void was written as a polemic against spiders.
- Last Note Hilarity: A short piece found on the songwriter's Instagram page is a relatively serious homage to Dante's Inferno, until the last line: "God's wrath will not be calmed by soup".
- Love Nostalgia Song: Cassandra.
- Melismatic Vocals: In the middle of In Media Res.
- Nerdcore/Heavy Mithril: Depending on what genre you consider the artist to be.
- Mysterious Colours Choir is a combination Overly Sarcastic Productions tribute and The Colour Out of Space mockery.
- Guardian Angels is a straight-up OSP tribute.
- Creatures of the Void is inspired by Ungoliant from The Silmarillion.
- Are You Anxious is a Sanders Sides homage.
- Many uploaded songs are based on The Magnus Archives.
- Host of Wind and Stars is based on the Wild Hunt, though it is not intended to be accurate to any incarnation of the actual myth.
- Mysterious Colours Choir is a combination Overly Sarcastic Productions tribute and The Colour Out of Space mockery.
- Non-Appearing Title: In Media Res.
- Downplayed with Host of Wind and Stars: The exact phrase is never used in the lyrics, but its components are.
- Phrase Salad Lyrics: Most notably in Cassandra. However, it is downplayed: the otherwise unconnected images are all said to apply to the titular character.
- Self-Backing Vocalist: Exaggerated in Mysterious Colours Choir, which consists of nothing but the same voice at multiple layers to create a choir effect.
- Singer-Songwriter: AEM currently consists of one musician, who writes and performs all of the music.
