- Scars Are Forever: Danny Dingo actually sheds a couple tears when he sees Shifty Dingo dying of a coma in the hospital. Danny later breaks down crying in the final chapter when He says his final goodbye to Shifty before committing suicide.

- Tiberium Wars has these shed by Commander Karrde when the survivors of the 4th Recon Battalion unanimously volunteer to help serve as recon troops for the armored attack on the White House, after having suffered fifty percent casualties under his command just a day earlier.

- Kyon: Big Damn Hero (Haruhi Suzumiya & TV Tropes; author Died During Production): Kyon after he learned Rika's backstory.
- The Night Unfurls: Kyril Sutherland, established in Chapter 1 of the original as a stone-cold badass who never bats an eye when killing things, is revealed to have cried during a flashback that happens in the very same chapter. Said flashback involves a Comfort the Dying scene between Kyril and his mentor figure Eileen the Crow, the latter in her last moments.
- Invoked in Light and Dark The Adventures of Dark Yagami with Light. "HE started crying with happy but then stopped and man cried instead which was more manly."
- The Bolt Chronicles: Bolt and his father Blaze shed a few tears while giving each other a Man Hug goodbye at the end of "The Cameo."
Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire
- In Robb Returns, Jorah Mormont cannot avoid crying when he meets the Company of the Rose and hears the Northern accent for the first time in years. The Krats, too, as all the houses in the Company state they will, too, return home, and he retakes his true name.
- Edric Dayne cries as his father dies, after naming him the new Sword of the Morning.

- Abraxas (Hrodvitnon): Mark Russell and several Monarch operatives are moved to tears without knowing why when they hear Thor and Mothra's primeval singing.
Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi / The Untamed
- In Best of My Love Nie Mingjue cries happy tears at Lan Xichen and Meng Yao's wedding. He can't get through a planned speech!
- Frequent and justified in the And I Will Burn For You series. Wei Wuxian in particular absolutely bawls while finding out all the horrible things his brother’s gone through while doing empathy.
- Gankona, Unnachgiebig, Unità: The usually serious and no-nonsense Germany sheds these after Italy proposed to both him and Japan.
- In Human Curiosity, Prussia cries in The Bonus Chapters, when he gets his memories back and reunites with Germany. One chapter also has England cry when he learned that Portugal was "dead", which led to him waking up from the dream-memory while still crying.
- Obsidian Citrine in the Hunger Games fanfiction Some Semblance of Meaning. When he tears up during his interview, Caesar Flickerman cites this trope by name, and it certainly isn't the last time that Obsidian is brought to tears, either. (Yet he's still undeniably manly.)
- In one of the short fiction pieces accompanying the Alternate History timeline On the Shoulders of Giants, we're treated to the sight of an Artificial Intelligence shedding these. (Or rather the alien equivalent, which is a bit complicated.) Given the circumstances, the reader is probably doing the same.
- A Game Well Played: Arthur cries (but only two, silent, desperate tears, one at a time; thus, manly) because he can't save Merlin from Cold-Blooded Torture without betraying Camelot. And he won't betray Camelot.
- In Fairy Tales and Hokum, Tom goes into full Inelegant Blubbering when his wife Elizabeth turns up safe and alive.

- Endeavor in Such a Doting Father has a tendency to cry what the narrative calls "Manly Tears" whenever expressing love and/or pride for his family.

- Alicornundrum: Sundiver, one of Twilight and Nyx's personal Royal Guards, absolutely bawls during Twilight and Ink Spot's wedding, much to the disgust of his partner Lightning Blitz.
- The Pieces Lie Where They Fell: In the sequel Picking Up the Pieces, Night breaks down and lets loose with these when his parents finally show him affection for the first time in years.
- HERZ: In chapter 12 Shinji sheds a single tear after Rei has said goodbye to him.
- Evangelion 303: Shinji sheds them often in the doujin: after finding out that Asuka survived the Unit-04's crash, while retorting Gendo's lecture, during his marriage proposal to Asuka... And nobody ever suggests that he is somehow less masculine for it.
- While he's not considered "manly" by any means, Olive's Last Partner has Oscar crying when hiding from Otto as he asks the Scientist whom Olive's last partner was.
- In This Bites!, both Wiper and Cricket shed a few when promising to meet up in Skypiea.
- In the Shining and Sweet chapter "Bear the Load", Von Kaiser cries these after Joe fully turns to stone.
- Commander Rex in Back From the Future is in the middle of submitting his monthly report on the battalions numbers when he realizes it's the first time ever that none of his men/brothers have died since he last submitted one. He breaks down sobbing over the revelation.
- Black Wings, Black Sails: When Temeraire rescues Laurence from arrest and flies him and his boarding crew back to their pirate fleet, Laurence weeps without realizing it, overcome with being with the dragon he thought he would never see again.
