The alternative slice of life.

Kurumi Uozumi, aka "Artificial Life Nullroid No. 1", is a cute adorable android created by the father of Chiaki Soen, a high school girl best intrigued by her technical skills more than anything else. She lives with the android, and helps her navigate through high school life. With the help of her novel-loving childhood friend of Sakina Agoshi, and the sincere but shy Shiyuki Takada, they explore the mundane life of being a high school girl. Oh, and they don’t really talk about anything in particular. Just regular things.

Null Meta is a comedic gag manga created by Kokamuno, who self-published the series beginning in April 2018 as a web manga on their Pixiv account, before being picked up by Manga Time Kirara MAX for official serialization beginning in December 2019. So far, three volumes have been released, and the series regularly updates throughout the year.

Null Meta contains examples of:

  • Artificial Human: The main character, Kurumi, resembles a regular human girl like the other girls, but is actually an android created by Chiaki's father.
  • Gag Series: In a different way compared to other Kirara manga, as the art style and humor is more akin to 2000s humor including the likes of Super Milk Chan, Di Gi Charat, and Pani Poni Dash!. It stands out compared to its peers running in the same magazine for this reason alone.
  • Meaningful Name: The title of the series is Null Meta. Kurmi is also known as Artificial Life Nullroid No. 1.
  • Shout-Out: In the second volume, there is a nod to Nichijou while discussing famous elements of androids in other media. Of course, Nichijou famously featured an android in the lead role as well.
  • Snowball Fight: Chapter 27 of the third volume features this, where Kurmi engages in one while becoming a mobile tank, super mobile, and roller coaster tank in-between.
