The womb and the vagina are separated by the cervix, one of the toughest and thickest muscles in the body and one that remains firmly closed until the mother goes into labour. Even if it were not, the developing fetus is covered by a tough membrane.

For others, especially men in fiction, the issue isn't physical but emotional.
