Something Might Happen is a picture book written by Helen Lester and illustrated by Lynn Munsinger.

Worrywart Twitchly Fidget lives closed up in his house, avoiding most normal activities. When his Aunt Bridget drops by, she decides to fix her nephew. Will the world really prove as disastrous as Twitchly fears?

This book includes examples of the following tropes:

  • An Aesop: Don't let anxiety about things that could possibly go wrong ruin your life.
  • Face Your Fears: Invoked by Aunt Bridget. She makes Twitchly do things that scare him, beginning with small things like eating popping cereal, which allows him to see that he has nothing to fear.
  • Meaningful Name: The name Twitchly Fidget suits a nervous wreck very well.
  • Mondegreen Gag: At one point, some of Twitchly's friends come by to invite him to a party, which will even have balloons. Twitchly mishears this as "baboons" and thinks it's too scary to come.
  • Nervous Wreck: Twitchly Fidget, who doesn't leave his house, put on his shoes, or eat his breakfast cereal because he's convinced some horrible consequence will result from each of these.
  • Sticky Situation: According to Twitchly, a marshmallow roast would cause everyone to stick to each other.
