The people who live among the high peaks of the Himalayas tell stories of a mysterious animal called the gray ghost. To see one, you'd have to be very lucky indeed....

Snow Leopard: Ghost of the Mountains is a piece of Children's Literature written by Justin Anderson and illustrated by Patrick Benson. It's a Short Story about a zoologist and his observations on a snow leopard. It was first published in 2019.


This book provides examples of:

  • Animal Lover: The zoologist is clearly excited to see a snow leopard.
  • Eye Colour Change: A snow leopards eyes are blue when they're born, but as they get older they turn either a light green or gray. This is stated to be unusual for big cats since the eyes usually turn yellow or gold instead.
  • Good Parents: The snow leopard is this to her cub.
  • Native Guide: The zoologist has a guide and based off of the illustrations he's a native of the Himalayas, in particular Ladakh.
  • Panthera Awesome: This book is dedicated to snow leopards.
