Querelle de Brest lit.  is a novel by Jean Genet. The book was adapted into the 1982 film Querelle by Rainer Werner Fassbinder.

  • Black Bra and Panties: Lysiane doesn't allow any of the women who work for her to wear black lingerie, though she always does because she looks quite good in it.
  • Depraved Bisexual: Querelle is willing to have sex with anyone. He's also a thief, a drug smuggler, and a murderer who winds up framing his friend and lover for the murder.
  • Everyone Is Bi: Most of the main characters have sexual relations with both men and women. In the opening chapter, the author underscores that Lt. Seblon is the only primarily homosexual character, the other men, including Querelle, are either bisexual or else engage in Situational Sexuality in either direction
  • Frame-Up: Querelle manages to get his murder of blamed on Gil.
  • Manly Gay: The majority of the male gay or bisexual characters count.
  • The Oldest Profession: Much of the story revolves around a particularly infamous brothel that caters to sailors, called the Feria.
  • Polyamory: Nono's wife is openly sleeping with Robert.
  • Port Town: The novel is set in Brest, a port town.
