Middle: Jing Xiu, Right: Ji Youyan

"This time...I won't lose you again."
Ji Youyan

Ji Youyan has received a second chance to redo all the mistakes of her past. However, she came back to the time after Jing Xiu and her had already broken up, making it harder for her. Will she be able to fix things with Jing Xiu or are things fated to be like her last life?

My Feelings can Wait is a novel from JJWXC later adapted into a currently ongoing manhua.

My Feelings Can Wait contains examples of the following:

  • Affectionate Nickname: Jing Xiu calls Ji Youyan “Yanyan” and Ji Youyan calls Jing Xiu “Axiu”.
  • The Alcoholic: What Ji Youyan's initial drinking away her sadness turned into after the breakup and what led to her death.
  • Always Save the Girl: Ji Youyan always protects Jing Xiu even at the cost of her safety.
  • The Beard: Jing Xiu as she marries Song Wenyan so that he can inherit his company because his family doesn't accept his orientation.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Jing Xiu is half-French and half-Chinese. She speaks fluent French and so does Ji Youyan, but the only exploration of her ethnicity is in a sniding remark that Ji Changsong, Ji Youyan's father, makes by implying that her parents were too lenient with her, which she of course, quickly rebuts.
  • Death Amnesia: Invoked when Ji Youyan doesn’t remember much after she dies besides Jing Xiu crying over her at her funeral. This becomes very important later as it means she didn’t remember how far Jing Xiu went to save her. However, she does eventually remember what happens after she died.
  • Disappointed in You: Jing Xiu tells Ji Youyan this explicitly like when Ji Youyan sold one of her songs to a famous artist and lied about doing so to her, indicated to Jing Xiu how little Ji Youyan trusts her.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: In the past, this sort of attitude that Ji Youyan had was what caused the two to break up as she could never confide to Jing Xiu about her problems from her Parental Issues to her former company mistreating her as an actress and the latter had to pick up the slack.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Father: Ji Youyan's father wanted her to pursue a more academic field while Ji Youyan wanted to become a singer, so he disowns her.
  • Gayngst: Justified, this story takes place in Modern China which isn't known for looking upon the LGBT+ community favorably. This causes Ji Youyan to have this in the past and present of the story. In fact, it was one of the contributing factors to her and Jing Xiu's breakup as she was afraid of going public with their relationship.
  • If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: Justified when Jing Shurong says this to Ji Youyan because the latter has already hurt Jing Xiu in the past.
  • I'm Having Soul Pains: Jing Xiu experiences these after rewinding time because of her sacrificing her next life along with her future glory and fame.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: This is what caused the long separation ironically because when Jing Xiu asked for them to breakup, Ji Youyan accepted because she genuinely believed it would be better for Jing Xiu while Jing Xiu just wanted her to resist.
  • Last Disrespects: Ji Youyan's death had a great impact on Jing Xiu which they proceed to respond with attending a funeral she wasn't invited to and hitting the deceased with a candle stick in denial of her ex-girlfriend's death.
  • Loony Fan: Only one major instance of this in the story in which a shirtless man runs at Jing Xiu to "bring her back on the right path" but Ji Youyan blocks him and gets hurt instead.
  • Mental Time Travel: By Ji Youyan as mentioned in the summary. She goes back three years before she dies yet two years after she broke up with Jing Xiu.
    • However, she wasn't the only one. Or even the one who prompts the time travel.
  • Moment Killer: By Lin Yue and Yao Xiao sometimes as they accidentally interrupt Ji Youyan talking to Jing Xiu or just Jing Xiu’s acts of kindness to the former. Eventually, they get more wise to these things as Characterization Marches On.
  • My Greatest Failure: Ji Youyan's was when she refused to film the lesbian film Dawn with Jing Xiu when Jing Xiu had asked her to.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: This is what Ji Youyan aims to do with her return back to past: get back together with Jing Xiu.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Jing Xiu doesn't want to immediately get together with Ji Youyan as they had some real flaws which caused their breakup rather than trite misunderstandings.
  • Tsundere: Justified with Jing Xiu following the years of the break-up as the reason she broke up with Ji Youyan are because of the latter's tendencies to not confide in her which resulted in her becoming a Love Matyr. She often acts cold towards Ji Youyan but her kindness and care show through her actions rather than what she says showing how she also possesses some lingering regrets over their breakup. Her personality when the two were still dating was closer to being a Kuudere.
