A series of textbooks to learn Italian by Alma Edizioni. The books have a video-course about Ivano Solari, his sessions with a psychologist, his life with his girlfriend and his life as an actor. Currently there are three books: one for A1, one for A2 and one for A3, each with one episode of the video-course at the end of each lesson.


Tropes:

  • All Just a Dream: Francesca discusses the trope in episode 8 of the A1 book, when Ivano thanks her for the party to which Anna invited him when posing as her.
  • Almost Kiss: A Running Gag
    • While not actually kissing, at the end of episode 10 of the A1 book, Ivano and Anna almost touch each other's hands, then ask simultaneously "Shall we order?".
    • Happens again in episode 4 of the A2 book with an actual kiss, interrupted by the pain Ivano feels in the neck from the accident.
    • In episode 6 of the B1 book, Giulia texts Anna, interrupting again her kiss with Ivano.
  • Big "NO!": In episode 9 of the B1 book, Paolo shouts one when his computer, which had all his work, breaks down. Ivano fixes it just by pressing a button.
  • Catching Up on History: In episode 6 of the A2 book, Ivano has a dream where he (dressed as a Roman) has to send a message to Nero. The post office clerk (also himself) tells him the stamp is missing. The Roman doesn't know what he means.
  • Continuity Nod: In episode 3 of the A2 book, Ivano is listening on his phone to the music which playen in the party with Anna.
  • Dream Sequence: A major plot point in the A1 book, where Ivano talks to her therapist Francesca about his dreams. Also two in book 2.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The second episode of the A1 book tells the audience about the main characters' professions and relationships.
  • Freudian Couch: Francesca has one in her house. Ivano appears merely slouching rather than lying on it.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: In episode 8 of the A1 book, when Ivano thanks Francesca for the party, she figures out what happened. Naturally, she's not pleased with Anna.
  • Gratuitous English: Ivano tells Anna he'll have to move if he becomes a famous actor. He says "Im going to be a great actor in the...". He says "United States" several times wrong.
  • Gratuitous Latin: Ivano, while talking with director Guido Guidi, says a lot of famous latin phrases.
  • Happily Ever After: Ivano and Anna, in episode 10 of the A1 book. The epilogue in episode 10 of the B1 book also reveals Paolo and the singer Paloma Delgado got married.
  • Hilarious Outtakes: In episode 2 of the A2 book, Ivano recalls his acting as Julius Caesar for a pasta ad, in which there were a lot of outtakes.
  • Honesty Is the Best Policy: Ivano discusses the characteristics of the flat they want to rent with Anna, who wants to exaggerate them for the tenants.
  • Loophole Abuse: In episode 10 of the A1 book, Francesca tells Ivano she can't be his psychologist anymore because they went on a date. Ivano reminds him it wasn't her, it was Anna.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: In episode 5 of the B1 book, Anna sees news of Ivano with another girl, then listens to Ivano's conversation and thinks he's cheating on him. Turns out he was just reading the script of one of his films, and the girl on the photo is just another actress he's working with.
  • Repetitive Name: Guido Guidi, both name and surname are verbal tenses of the Italian word for "drive".
  • Series Continuity Error: In episode 3 of the B1 book, When Anna is on the phone with Paolo, she refers to herself as "Anna Bini". However, her surname was established before as Busi.
  • Spoiler Opening: The opening for each book lists the main characters of that book. In the A2 book, Paolo is absent in the opening, pointing out he was Put on a Bus. In the B1 book, he appears again, though he isn't mentioned until episode 3. The B1 opening also reveals Francesca was Put on a Bus.
  • They Just Dont Get It: In episode 9 of the A1 book, Paolo talks about his friend Giorgia, then Ivano asks him about her, mistakingly calling her Giovanna. Later in episode 10, Paolo has to leave because he has a date with Giorgia. Ivano asks who that is, and Paolo reminds him. Ivano asks "Wasn't her name Giovanna?".
  • True Art Is Incomprehensible: When Anna tells Ivano and Paolo a purple ball is an artwork. The guys play with it. Anna scolds them, telling them it's an artwork worth more than 200000 euros. Paolo replies "This? Come on, it's a ball".
  • Twin Switch: Anna performs one in episode 5 of the A1 book, where she impersonates her sister Francesca. In chapter 6, she invites Ivano to a party.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: Episode 10 of the B1 book has one, explaining the future of Ivano, Anna, Paolo e Giulia.
