An Alternate History series created by Reddit user jellyfishdenovo, chronicling the United States falling into a Syrian-style Civil War. The actual point of divergence is Al Gore winning the 2000 electionnote , but the civil war itself begins in 2017, when Texas secedes in response to the election of Eric Holder. Holder's reaction triggers large-scale revolts from both the far right and the far left.

The main subreddit can be found here, the Canon Hub (compiling all official content so far) can be found here, and the official list of factions is here.

Aprils In Abaddon contains examples of:

  • The Cavalry: The EAWA's rescue of the Lake Traverse NGL affiliate from the Dominion.
  • Chummy Commies: The Western American Workers' Army.
  • Commie Land: Both of the AWAs and the NRG.
  • Dirty Commies: The Eastern American Workers' Army.
  • Divided States of America: Obviously.
  • Enemy Mine: Following the failure of the PGUSA offensives against Pittsburgh and Detroit, the PGUSA has signed a ceasefire with the EAWA so they can work together to fight the Dominion.
  • Fallen States of America: Even assuming the PGUSA can somehow reunite the country, America's days as a world power are over.
  • Humiliation Conga: The FRA has had a very rough time lately, between their failing economy, defeats at the hands of the Sons, and a run of really bad weathernote  that has absolutely wrecked their infrastructure. And now the Dominion is on their doorstep...
  • The Klan: There are not one, but two white supremacist factions: the KKK itself and the Sons of the South. The difference between them is mostly that the Sons want to subjugate black people, while the KKK wants to exterminate them.
    • While it plays second fiddle to their apocalyptic Christian theology, the Dominion believes that nonwhites are tainted by the devil.
  • Malcolm Xerox: The APG, which is still holding on to Atlanta. They get a lot of sympathy given their opposition are the universally-despised Sons of the South, but their stated objective is to create a black ethnostate.
  • Ruthless Modern Pirates: The power vacuum left by the collapse of the US has enabled the return of large-scale piracy in the Caribbean (and the West Coast, to a lesser extent). The situation is bad enough that a Chinese-led international task force has deployed to the Caribbean to combat piracy.
  • Team Switzerland: The Republics of Alaska and Hawaii, both of which seceded specifically to keep themselves out of the fighting.
  • The Theocracy:
    • The Knights of Columbus, a mostly Hispanic faction with some notion of establishing a Catholic theocracy.
    • The Dominion is an extremist Christian faction, believing that the Apocalypse is at hand.
