  • Disney Theme Parks:
    • Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was originally created at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom to compete with Halloween Horror Nights over at Universal Studios Orlando. While HHN is geared towards adults and teenagers with a very R-rated experience filled with death and gore, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a more lighthearted event catering to family audiences with a focus on the Disney Villains.
    • In Hocus Pocus, the Sanderson Sisters are funny but still genuinely evil, dangerous witches, who worship Satan as their "master" and who suck out the life force of children to maintain their youth. In the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular stage show during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, their goal is just to make a Hocus Pocus Party Potion so they can throw the best Halloween party ever, and instead of Satan, they revere Maleficent.
  • Universal Studios:
    • Godzilla vs. Evangelion: The Real 4-D is lighter and softer than Shin Godzilla (whose Godzilla is the one used) and a lot of installments in the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise (including the the original series or, especially given it's the basis of the Eva half of the crossover and the route it took with the third movie, Rebuild of Evangelionnote ), more akin to other Godzilla installments or, in Evangelion's case, the Super Robot Wars series. In fact, the worst thing that happened to Shinji, Rei, and Asuka is getting them and their respective EVAs a bit banged up from their fight with Godzilla and that may have something to do with Godzilla's real target being King Ghidorah—and then after they help Godzilla deal with Ghidorah, they're still more or less fine.
    • Halloween Horror Nights was drastically altered in 2001 in response to 9/11, including removing all traces of blood and gore and general themes of death from the event.
