Magical Girl Alisa is a multi-media franchise created by Falcom with character designs by VOFAN, known for his work for the Bakemonogatari series.

The franchise involve the various misadventures of Alisa, a young Magical Girl as she fights away evil and the forces of the demon prince Rean. Along with her friends, her benefactor Mona and her trusty ARCUS, nothing is off limits for Alisa!

The franchise consists of the following:

  • Magical Girl Alisa (2013)- A light novel series that started the series. The first chapter can be read here.
    • Magical Girl Alisa: The Animation (2015)- an Anime adaptation of the novel, with an opening theme by SPiKA.
  • Magical Girl Alisa: Mishy Panic and Explosive Fishing (2015)- Two arcade game made to promote the anime. The former takes the form of a wack-a-mole clone where the player has to wack away Evil Mishies and avoid the real Mishy and his sister Mishette while the latter is a Fishing game where the player can earn arcade tokens via fishing.
  • Magical Alisa's Love Shot (2020)- A Shoot 'Em Up game that can be played on the NEO Reverie console. Following the events of the series, Rean has taken over his late father as the True Demon Lord as he once again attacks the real world. Alisa, her friends and new comers Juna and Musse must work together to stop this threat and revive Rean's soul.

The Franchise provides examples of the following:

  • Accidental Pervert: In the first chapter of the first novel, Alisa accidentally bumps into Rean causing him to get a face-full of her chest. Luckily, Elise is there to prevent things from escalating too far.
  • Adaptational Villainy: In the original Cold Steel games, Rean is the main protagonist and is a very heroic individual. Here, he is the Big Bad, and is actively antagonizing Alisa.
  • Bittersweet Ending: In LS, the evil is defeated but Alisa and co. are forced out of the demon since they don't belong there and Rean is no longer allowed to go to the human world.
  • Bland-Name Product: The fast food chain Alisa works at is called McMonald's.
  • Defeat Equals Friendship: After being defeated by the magical girls, Altina and the Stall-Ritter join their side.
  • Grade-School C.E.O.: As revealed in LS Chapter 2, Musse is the owner of the local mall after she inherited it from her late parents. Despite still being in highschool.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Alisa is blonde haired and is a very heroic individual.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Two times in LS:
    • In Chapter 1, Altina opposed the party, under the behest of the Demon Prince. After the party defeats her, she joins the heroes side as a Magical Girl.
    • In Chapter 2, Duvalie (the former member of the Demon King's Stall-Ritter) joins the heroes side after learning to love humanity. Her fellow Stall-Ritter follow suite at the end of the chapter.
  • Laughably Evil: Despite being the main antagonist of the Magical Girl Alisa series, one of the novels pokes fun at Demon Prince Rean's bizarre fashion sense and over-the-top speeches.
  • Lucky Charms Title: Each magical girl have a star in-between their names.
  • Maou the Demon King: Rean's father, Demon King Osborne, is stated to be the Evil Overlord of the demon realm who rules the land with an iron fist. After his death, Rean takes over as the True Demon Prince. However, it's revealed that he and his father was possessed by an a malevolent force.
  • Ordinary High-School Student: Alisa and her friends Laura and Emma are regular students until they were scouted by Mona to become magical girls.
  • Pink Is Feminine: Alisa's magical outfit has a lot of pink in it and she is easily the most feminine of the group.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Mona is a small, yellow bunny-like creature who acts as a mentor to Alisa and her friends.
  • Support Party Member: In LS, the rest of the magical girls, Fie and Duvalie, Sharon and Rean can help the newer girls by providing them with powered buffs.
  • Transformation Sequence: With her ARCUS, Alisa and her friends is able to transform into their magical forms. In LS Juna and Musse get their own transformations.
  • Verbal Tic: Mona has a habit of replacing words or syllables that rhyme with mona with mona, such as "Hu-Mona-ty" and "De-mona-trastion".
  • Villains Out Shopping: Much like his original counterpart, Demon Prince Rean is avid fan of fishing. An entire arcade game is dedicated to his love of fishing.
  • Wutai: The village that Sara and Fie belong to have a traditional Japanese theme, with Sara and Fie themselves being kunoichi.
