    Rapunzel/Cassandra
  • It's pretty easy to read this between Cassandra and Rapunzel, given that they've grown to be close friends and Cassandra serves almost a parallel role to Eugene, being an action-savvy companion with a snarky streak in contrast to the more open-hearted Rapunzel. The two of them snuck out of the castle at night, and engaged in a bit of running around together in the light of a full moon. It could be seen as a date. Cassandra also tells Rapunzel that if anyone ever finds out about her involvement in Rapunzel's hair coming back, they'd never be able to see each other again. Given her usually stoic nature, the moment comes across as a desperate lover's plea.
  • Season 2 doubles down by having several episodes where Cass often takes the traditional love interest role. In the episode "Free Bird", Rapunzel sacrifices herself for Cass, causing Cass to become G-rated murderous with rage because of it. She tearfully presses their foreheads together, whispering, "Oh, Raps, you're my best friend... please... don't leave me." When she is able to bring Rapunzel back, Cassandra is ecstatic, running to Rapunzel and twirling her joyfully in true Disney prince fashion.
  • In the episode "Rapunzel Day One", where Rapunzel's memory regresses back to how it was at the start of the movie and she has her first experiences out in the world with Cass in place of Eugene. Interestingly enough, while the characters have changed, the romantic tension from the original movie still remains, with Cassandra gazing fondly at Rapunzel's boundless optimism and Rapunzel purposefully leaning up against Cassandra as they look up at the stars. This episode even ends with Eugene remarking to Lance about having "gotten them back together." The camera then pans to Rapunzel and Cassandra, staring into each other's eyes as they hold hands.
  • Season 3 manages to up the Ho Yay quotient even more despite Cassandra's Faceā€“Heel Turn. "I'd Give Anything" is basically just a big "Baby, Come Back, I Still Love You" song from Rapunzel to Cass. On a darker, sadder note, their relationship gains more than a little subtext in the final season, with Raps as the girlfriend who firmly believes she can change Cass for the better and Cass as the girlfriend who's willing to hurt Rapunzel in any way she can if it gets the point across that she's not coming back. Their whole relationship now reads like a breakup gone bad.
  • The flashback episode in season three, "Beginnings", is brimming with Les Yay as it shows how Rapunzel and Cassandra first became friends. Rapunzel really comes off as having a crush on Cass, making her gifts, gushing about her to Eugene, and even asking her to be her partner for the Contest of the Crowns. Eventually, Cass reciprocates and even gives up her chance to join the Ingvarr Battalion for Rapunzel. Which makes the circumstances of their current relationship all the more heartbreaking.
  • Continuing with the "breakup" vibe of their relationship, "Once a Handmaiden..." has the two participate in a play by Feldspar where they play each other. It quickly devolves into an ad-libbed heart-to-heart about how they both made mistakes in their relationship and should have paid more attention to each other's feelings (No, this isn't an exaggeration, it's actually what happens.) When Monty confusedly asks who the bad guy is supposed to be, they both shout in unison "IT'S COMPLICATED!"
  • The finale is filled with more Cass/Raps ambiguous lesbian goodness, from Rapunzel bringing Cassandra back to life with her tears like she did with Eugene in Tangled to the two women outright telling each other "I love you" at the end.
  • Also from the finale, we have the song "I'd Give Anything", wherein Rapunzel sits on Cassandra's bed, wistfully recalls their past adventures, and clutches Cassandra's old dress to her face and cries into it.
Rapunzel: I know we've grown apart. It breaks my heart in two/I miss your company, the closeness we once knew/I won't pretend to know just what you're going through/But I'd give anything for you.
Yes, I'd give anything to relive everything with you.
  • In one story from the "Hair it is" one-shot, Cassandra got jealous of Rapunzel's new friend Sophie and started modifying her schedule so Raps would spend time with her more.
  • In Rapunzel and the Lost Lagoon, Cassandra and Rapunzel go on a quest to discover the treasure hidden within the titular lagoon, and after joining two tablets together, they see this message: "When opposites come together in the name of love and goodness, despite their differences, they manifest the ultimate power." This was right after Cass and Rapunzel pulled off an extremely difficult Combination Attack to stop a thief from finding the lagoon, and the message is actually a Love Letter written by Shampanier to Herz der Sonne, sooooo... There are also several parallels with Cassandra and Rapunzel as General Shampanier and Herz der Sonne, with the 'Day of Hearts' episode showing a brash warrior woman who falls for the ruler of Corona after reading a journal containing his true feelings for her.

  • Just as there's Les Yay undertones between Rapunzel and Cassandra, there's quite a bit of this with Eugene and Lance. It's taken to ridiculous extremes in their "Buddy" song number in "Rapunzel And The Great Tree."
  • Beginnings also shows Cass staring starry-eyed at two warrior princesses, going "whoa" and looking them up and down.
