The series has quite a lot of its light and heartwarming moments

• "Apprentice Witch Elaina"^note Episode 1:
  • Elaina's parents fully supporting her wishes and even let her learn a lesson on setback by hiring Fran to become her teacher.
  • Fran being Elaina's mentor and explaining the Trickster Mentor set up after the fact. She apologizes for going too far and tries really hard to sooth and cheer Elaina after making her cry.
  • The two develop a sweet mentor-apprentice bond. After living together for a year, they even have their own in-jokes, like "eating weeds".
• "The Land of Mages"^note Episode 2: Elaina's interaction with Saya
  • Despite knowing the truth about the brooch, Elaina still helps Saya with her magic training for a week. That is a big deal for her, because she normally doesn't like staying in one place for longer than three days.
  • You know that spare witch hat that Elaina's mother gives her? Elaina gives it to Saya before departing.
  • In an interview after becoming an apprentice witch, Saya says that she will celebrate becoming a full-witch by visiting "(her) favorite traveler". After reading this interview, Elaina says this to sky. Recall that this is six months after parting company.
    Elaina: I'll be waiting for you, Saya.
• "Royal Celestria"^note Episode 5:
  • Elaina's reunion with Fran is precious. The set-up in the light novel, where Fran is the first reoccurring character, makes it even sweeter. The two of them have a chance to catch-up as fellow witches.
  • Elaina helping Fran's students with their studies.
    • "I want you to help me teach". Fran says it twice. She really wants Elaina to help her teach because she thinks so highly of her apprentice, you'd think she were praising her own daughter. During the class session, Fran introduces Elaina as a "splendid witch" who can answer any question the students have about magic.
    • Elaina becomes very popular as a teaching assistant. Her knowledge mixed with being closer to their age makes her easier to talk to, like a Cool Big Sis.
    • Elaina herself notes that it "wasn't half bad" to be a magic teacher.
  • Elaina refuses to stay too long in Royal Celestia and refuses Fran's hospitality for one reason. If she accepts, then she will not want to leave. Her affection for her mentor rivals her love of traveling.
  • Fran arranges to send off her former apprentice in style. Her students fly above the gate and drop flower petals over Elaina while she leaves.
    Fran: Elaina, as you travel, my students and I will be cheering you on with all our hearts. Never forget that.
• "The Two Apprentices"^note Episode 11:
  • At the end, when Fran asks Elaina if she's figured out the identity of her teacher and Elaina is being deliberately bashful about it, Fran tells Elaina to drop by her homeland one day for all those who love and support her.
    Fran: Don't forget. We're always thinking about you, Elaina. We'll always love you.
    Elaina: Me, too... I love you, Miss Fran. And everyone...
