  • In "Unleashed Beast of Fury", Gumpers leaves the lighthouse, convinced that Tommy doesn't want him around because of his clumsiness and flatulence. Once Tommy realizes what's going on, he immediately goes to find Gumpers and reassures him that he loves him no matter what.
Gumpers: I know you don't like to have me around, Tommy, 'cause I make messes and smell bad and I... [burps out a shoe] that. How many of those did I eat?
Tommy: Gumpers, don't be silly. Nobody wants to get rid of you. We all love our messy, smelly, burpy friend.
    Gumpers: Really? You do?
Tommy: Sure. And I wanted new shoes anyway. [Gumpers hugs Tommy]
  • "They Took Tommy's Brain" has Tommy and Dinko sharing a hug after the former's Easy Amnesia is undone, with Tommy admitting he truly does see Dinko as his best friend.
  • Dinko and his cousin Danko spend most of "Bad Blood from Beyond" fighting over Tommy, with Dinko fearing that Danko, who's beaten him in everything else, will also steal his position as Tommy's best friend. When Danko asks what a best friend is, Dinko gives an impassioned speech about his relationship with Tommy.
Danko: Now that I've won it, what exactly is a 'best friend'? I've never had one.
Dinko: A best friend is someone you do everything with. He or she makes your whole day better, and brighter. You want to help them, and-and they want to help you. That is a best friend.
    • Following Dinko's speech, Tommy immediately offers the fairground ticket to Dinko without hesitation, blowing away any fears Dinko had about being replaced. He bursts into tears, and Tommy comforts him with a hug.
Tommy: I like Danko, but he's no Dinko. What, are you from another planet or something? [Laugh Track] Who else would I go with, buddy? You're my best friend. I- [Dinko puts a hand over his mouth, and they hug]
Dinko: Do not speak, Tommy of Earth. Words just... get in the way.
  • In "The Alien Who Sold the World", Dinko believes that Tommy has been assimilated into the "Fargonians" (in actuality a fictional nationality Tommy has to mimic for his school project). When Tommy finally realizes how troubled Dinko is about it, he's quick to reassure him that his project won't get in the way of their friendship.
Tommy: Dinko, no Fargonian could ever keep us from being friends. There's no power, human or alien, that will ever come between you and me. 'Kay, promise.
    Dinko: Truly, Tommy of Earth?
    Tommy: Truly, Dinko of Conforma.
  • In "The World Without Hamburgers", Tommy admits he sees the aliens as his family.
Tommy: It's just that we're a family. All of us. And sometimes the family's gotta do stuff that they don't wanna do just to show that they care about each other.
  • In "Seventy Foot Tommy", Dinko realizes that statues are used to celebrate Earth's finest and spends the bulk of the episode trying to get a statue made to commemorate Tommy, his best friend. Even after multiple setbacks, he refuses to give up and eventually makes a giant statue of Tommy out of taffy; Tommy is so touched that he doesn't even mind the fact he'll have to pay the (expensive) bill for it.
