Heartwarming / Otherside Picnic

Go To

  • Sorawo is reasonably scared of venturing back to Otherside after a few brushes with both death and utter madness. But when she learns that Toriko went back in on her own, she braves those fears to rescue her.
  • The leader of the U.S. Marines trapped in Otherside is courteous to the girls, telling them that since no female members of his unit are left, he won't subject them to a physical examination and provides them with a tent of their own. He's determined to hang on to civility because he says it's the only way to maintain their humanity.
  • Toriko's dedication to Satsuki, and later Sorawo. As the novels progress, we learn that she's just as shy and reserved as Sorawo, except with people she's comfortable with. And yet, she'll risk her life without a second thought for someone she cares about. And later, she shows the same selflessness for the Marines trapped in Otherside.
  • During the fight with Sannuki, Akari tells the apparition not to mess with people she loves (Natsumi). Afterwards, Natsumi tears up while hugging Akari, both of them engaging in Say My Name repeatedly.
  • In the light novel, after Toriko learns that Satsuki tutored Akari at the same time as her, and that she may not have been special, she's quietly devastated. Sorawo shows understanding and gives her a bit of space to sort her feelings out, while Sorawo hunts for a new gate to the Otherside.
  • At the end of vol. 2, Sorawo has to save Toriko from a trap left by Satsuki Uruma. When it's over, the two of them are found holding hands, and their first thought on waking is for each other's well-being.
  • Toriko has a tendency to slapping Sorawo to break her out of Otherside induced madness. This causes Sorawo to make an insensitive joke about Toriko being a "domestic abuser". So, at the end of Vol. 4, when Sorawo requests a slap to prevent Sanity Slippage after a close call, only to find Toriko giving her a Big Damn Kiss, instead.
