Putting the Band Back Together has never been so bittersweet.

Omori may deal with sad and depressing topics, and it may have some intensely horrifying moments, but it also has some of the most heartwarming as well.

Unmarked spoilers ahead.

  • Before Omori goes out and plays with his friends, a snake on the floor gives Omori a daily allowance, just looking out for you.
  • No matter what level you are, from a Junkyard to a misty, scary forest, Mari is there, ready to encourage you, heal you, save your game, and just have a picnic break.
  • Whenever Omori has to face his fears, his friends are always ready to help him go forward. Kel even was ready to catch Omori in case Omori fell from a high ladder! Eventually, Omori defeats his fears.
  • One of the sidequests in Faraway Town involves helping a father reconnect with his son, who's isolated himself in his room. The father's a little behind the times and doesn't understand modern gadgets, but he's doing his best to try and relate. With your assistance and a little pushing from Kel, you help the boy come out of his room to address his father, and he's moved to tears when he learns of all the efforts his father has gone to, even getting a slice of his favorite strawberry cake for his birthday.
  • You can gather seashells for Cris, aka Blue-Haired Girl. Get three of them and she makes a Seashell Necklace as a gift to help Sunny cope with the feelings of having to move to a new place. It's the only Charm that affects Sunny's stats in the real world, and its effects also persist in the final dream world sections of the game, which can imply how much this gift means to Sunny.
  • There's an ongoing friction between Guitar Guy, who wants to move to the city and make it big as a musician, and Thick Eyebrows, his Fantasy-Forbidding Father. If you've helped Guitar Guy reach his donation goal and go on to check in on his family, it turns out his sister has let the news slip to Thick Eyebrows, but the old man isn't as furious as Guitar Guy has feared. He hands you a lunchbox which happens to contain Guitar Guy's favourite food, and after exchanging it for a letter of appreciation, the old man is filled with hope that his son will succeed in chasing his dreams.
  • If you talk to the preacher after the confrontation with Aubrey at the church, he comments that Aubrey seems like a troubled girl and could use a friend.
  • Kim's name is mud with the friendship group for being part of Aubrey's gang, and she knows it. She still comes to Sunny's house, knowing Sunny hasn't left the house for years, and meekly asks them for help. Aubrey hasn't left her house, which isn't like her. Kel kvetches that it's very rich of Kim to come to them after Aubrey nearly drowned Basil, but Hero points out that there may be a good reason. You can choose to agree to go and make amends.
    • Later, if you attend the newlywed couple's house party, you can find Kim there with her Dad and brother. If you talk to her, she'll playfully call Sunny a nerd before telling him he'll be okay once he moves even if it's a little sucky overall, which is a very nice gesture to show how her opinion of Sunny has improved.
  • Real world Kel and Hero bringing the group together for a big hug on One Day Left. A horrible tragedy had split them apart four years ago and Sunny is about to move out of town, but their relationship is finally beginning to repair itself. This is followed by group resolving to keep in touch with Sunny even after he moves away.
  • Once Aubrey joins the group on One Day Left, several Breaktime sparkling spots appear throughout Faraway Town, each showing a cute scene of the gang hanging out. One shows the group eating pizza together at Gino's Pizza, another has them read a comic together at Hobbeez, and one has Aubrey and Hero cheering Sunny on while he plays Kel's game system! They're all simple scenes, sure, but seeing the gang having a good time together again in the real world is just too sweet, especially knowing its the last day they'll be able to for a while.
    • A notably heartwarming Breaktime event occurs at the swings at Faraway Park. There, Aubrey will apologize for being mean to him the past two days, and admits she wishes she could have been there for him while he was struggling all alone. She also encourages him to get out more once he moves, showing how much she cares for his wellbeing.
    • The most pressing Breaktime event obviously occurs at the scene of Mari's grave. There, the group will leave a flower by her grave while each taking a moment to speak about how much Mari means to them, and how much her death affected them. The sweetest part happens afterwards, where interacting the grave again will allow the group to have another picnic together, for old times' sake. There is no witty dialogue to be had here, just the group of friends silently reminiscing the good times together, accompanied by a more sombre version of Mari's theme.
  • After fighting with Basil and blacking out in the Main Route, Sunny is led down dream versions of Faraway Town, all the way to his house. There, Basil and Mari first greet him, and reassure that he can find the strength to forgive himself. This leads to him finally acknowledging the storage room that he's been ignoring for so long to retrieve his broken violin.
    • Sunny then takes a trip down an almost literal Memory Lane, eventually entering a stage, where Kel, Aubrey, and Hero encourage him — with the former saying that they might always be best friends. All this comes together in the Final Boss battle, where the support from his closest companions allow Sunny to Cherish his good memories and keep on fighting against Omori.
  • We don't know if Mari's apparition is real when Hero saves Sunny from drowning, or when Sunny talks to her while she plays piano before he goes to confront Omori. This Mari forgives Sunny for what happened, saying that she knew he never meant to hurt her.
  • The good ending's Good-Times Montage is a mix of both this and Tear Jerker; faced with the real possibility of losing himself to his suicidal ideation, Sunny gets up, draws his violin, and remembers all of the good times he spent with his sister and his friends. Even though he cannot forget Mari's untimely death, it is enough to pacify and make peace with Omori as he drops his knife and fades away without any further argument, allowing Sunny to finally move on.
    • The secret cutscene following the credits, achieved by remembering to water Basil's plants in Headspace. Basil wakes up, his Something still behind his head, to find Sunny in front of him, with his own Something behind him. Sunny simply smiles at him with tears in his remaining eye, seemingly forgiving him for what he's done, as Sunny's Something disappears. Basil simply smiles back, as his Something finally disappears. After four years of trauma, guilt, and paranoia, both boys are finally free, ready to move on from the past.
  • In the good ending, Sunny's hospital bed will be surrounded with flowers from every person whose sidequest in Faraway Town was completed; no matter how small their interaction actually was with Sunny, they wish him the best of health.
    • "Universally Loved" is an achievement gained by waking up to flowers from everyone in town. Given the tedium of attaining this achievement, it's easily the last one you obtain, but the combination of this achievement popping up alongside the one for 100% Completion really helps the good end wrap up the game on a high note.
  • From the first moment you play as Sunny, you get to gaze into his bathroom mirror, which occasionally shows hallucinations or Something haunting him from behind. In the good end, you are given one last mirror to look at before you leave the hospital room, but this time Sunny's reflection is bathed in a warmer glow, without the slightest trace of Something. He's finally ready to move on from his guilt.
  • A canon comic posted by Omocat affirms that even though Aubrey felt lonely after Mari died, her new friend group of the Hooligans were genuinely there for her.
  • The little cameos from Pretty Boy and Jock, characters from Omocat's 2013 comic Pretty Boy are pretty heartwarming, especially since they're often together.
  • Omocat's thank-you note at the end of the official artbook shows Sunny with a sweet, gentle smile on his lips.
