During one phone call in the manga, a person calls and says with regret that they wished the criminals that died would be killed, and [[IWishedYouWereDead is worried it was their fault]]. The officer, while visibly irritated, stays patient and asks if they also wished for the FBI agents to die. After a {{Beat}}, the caller says no, they didn't even know about that. The cop reassures them they aren't Kira, but to call if they are still worried in a few weeks. Light claims people need his form of justice, but that single moment of kindness from the cop to a scared person believing they were evil proved him wrong.
