It's the most lucid and coherent she's been all movie, with all her other scenes highlighting her diminished health and mental faculties. He leaves Rosie for a moment that lasts 3 seconds to get her pills and water, only to find out that she quietly passed away. He brings her body to the pool to try and save her as Walter walks in. He mournfully states its too late, but having just lost someone close to him, Walter seems to find common ground with the mourning man and sparks the connection as to why the elderly people all came in at once, leading to his offer to have them come with him.
