- Who actually killed the two loyal members of the group — Harrod and MacPherson — early on in the film? Was it Smith going to extremes to maintain his triple agent status? Or was it one or more of the three members of the group who turned out to be German spies?
- The movie never says, but it having been Berkeley is the closest you'll get to an answer because his counterpart Carraciola did it in the book. Or at least, Smith theorises that it was him.
