• Scrappy says the Creator could just get the bullroarer himself, and he's right. Surely the Creator can just get it back without upsetting the reality of his own world.
  • Unless he was playing a game, as gods involved with the Disc do....
  • Or the other gods were already playing a game about the fate of XXXX, and the Last Continent's Creator didn't want to rouse the kind of brouhaha that happened when Om stepped in and upset a game-in-progress about the invasion of Omnia.
  • This god is said by Scrappy to be a nomad creator who travels across the universe making continents instead of worlds - building over stables, with his own worlds being unique and trademarked by kangaroos. And when Scrappy asked that question, he said the world needed heroes - why he needed Rincewind instead of raising his own hero who'd be better than Rincewind is anyone's guess.
  • Maybe there's no need to look too deeply into it. It's just the tropes of Rincewind being a god's Chew Toy, as is his regular fate, and the god having to act through a pawn rather than directly, which is what gods do. Rincewind's track record of success, with assistance, means the god wouldn't need to take trouble with new heroes, not when he can use one already available.
  • Also it's God's Hands Are Tied. The Creator can't directly interfere with anything that's been set up and running, he needs to send in someone to do it for him.

• How does the God of Evolution's backstory work? He seems vaguely surprised by the existence of humans, like he's never seen any animal like the wizards before (he briefly considers they might be gods if they can create hankerchiefs, before realising they're just "tool-using creatures"). This already doesn't fit with how Discworld gods work, but he also talks about his former worshippers, who apparently had cows and cities and so on. But then he's taken aback by the very idea of sexual reproduction. We're told this is all millions of years in the Disc's past, but it's hard to tell if it's supposed to be pre-humanity (and the God's worshippers were ... something else) or not (and he's just forgotten what they were like).
  • I seem to remember Ponder... er, pondering how a god could exist without believers, and speculating that he simply believed in himself strongly enough to continue existing. As for how he came to be in the first place... Having had worshippers who wiped themselves out, or were wiped out, well, possibly he was their creator god figure, and being shaped by that belief, he naturally started creating life on his own little island. He was not a love god, so he never thought about sex or reproduction, people just came to be.
