• So Vexilon needs a system patch. Gotcha. Thing is, system and software patches have to come from somewhere, typically from a team or an individual developer still working on improving the software after its initial release. So where did Vexilon's update come from? Are its creators still supporting their legacy software millions of years later from beyond space and time? Has that software update simply been waiting on Vexilon's hard drive this entire time? How does that work?
  • Rule of Funny, don't hurt yourself.
  • It was most likely that the patch was made before its creators ascended on a separate computer for development/testing and it was about to be transferred and installed on the live system when the ascension occurred.
  • If Starfleet added any software to Vexilon, it could be a matter of "To complete installation, please restart" coupled with not having routine maintenance like restarts, defrags, etc.
  • Apparently, Vexilon's creators ascended over a weekend. So there was nobody left at the start of the next work week to install the updates. This is what happens when IT quits all at once.
