Viewers familiar with the chula game and its introductory episode will know that its creators, the Wadi, are a Gamma Quadrant species that made first contact with the Federation only a dozen years prior to the events of the episode, and can therefore guess the twist at the end that Lt. Dirk's story about being stuck in the game as a child is a fabrication.
