Why would Ojou go to a public school?
At different points of the anime the name of the school is shown to be Takamine
Prefectual High School. Which is obviously a public school. Is there any excuse for
Ojou to attend a public school?
- Aren't public schools BETTER in Japan? Where you have to pass exams to get into a school, and private schools let anyone who pays in?

I was under the opposite impression, especially after watching Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note Last season, where a boy who has been in the national top 2% is seen to be in a "huge shock" after he failed all the selective privates and only entered a public. Provided it's a children's novel marketed to fourth to sixth graders, I take that to be closer to reality. Of course, I understand there's at least one very selective public school in every prefecture, but then my knowledge is also that Galko isn't particularly bright (but not yet to Book Dumb levels), and Otako is lopsided in her studies.
- To be fair, it's fairly common in anime for characters who would likely attend different schools to go to school together to have more varied casts.
- In the manga it's stated that she transferred from a very exclusive school, but not why. Maybe she wanted to experience a more normal life and become a little less sheltered?
