  • Chapters 16~17. When the school year started, The Aloner student who would be known as Otako got a negative first impression of the Gyaru Girl student who sits right behind her. Later, the gyaru tries to strike up a conversation with Otako, but Otako blows her off, saying, "You're a dumb skanky bitch, 'Galko'." The next day, the students are all in the library when Otako is struck by a bad period coming along. Galko sees this and, without a second thought, she hoists Otako up, and tells their teacher that they need to use the restroom. This allows Otako to take care of her period without any hassle. Afterward, Galko asks Otako, "Is there some rule that a Gyaru Girl and an Otaku girl can't be friends?" Otako agrees with Galko, before immediately wondering what her real name is. But Galko says that she likes "Galko", since Otako gave that nickname to her. One more nickname and a handshake later, Galko and Otako immediately establish their rapport. Then The Ojou student shows upnote , and the rest is history.
  • After the drama with the cultural festival, everyone finally getting to hang out together and being happy together. The margin note for the three of them says: "Three close friends."
  • When they're discussing movies, and Galko talks about how good it feels to find a pearl among all the movies that exist out there, and relates it to finding a good friend.
  • Volume 5, Chapter 106, in a weird way. True, the first date between Galko's sister and Otako's brother ends on a bitter note because the former had offered to have sex with the latter, which unintentionally scares him away. When Galko's sister demands to know why he's running, Otako's brother yells that yes, he does want to have sex, and yes, he'd love to do it with such a "kind and beautiful woman". Then he says that he genuinely likes Galko's sister, and he doesn't want a one-night stand to undermine a genuine and fulfilling relationship with her. So he leaves.
  • In the festival arc, after Charao convinces Galko to go spend her time with her friends rather than let the play take priority, the question of that section is "Is it possible for a boy and a girl to be close friends?" Showing that, despite his general perversion and implications that he had a crush on her, ultimately his feelings for her are wholly platonic and above it all he sees her as a close friend. And she feels the same.
  • On a trip to a museum, Nikuko sees a bunch of classical paintings of women, many of which are fat or have larger, softer stomachs than one would see in modern art. Her reaction is to hold her own stomach and think in awe that they look like her. Then she overheard a classmate ask about this difference in figures, and the teacher explains that larger and full figured women were considered beautiful in their time period because someone having weight indicated a woman who was well off. While Nikuko has never exhibited embarrassment or shame in her size previously, it's heartwarming to see her so overjoyed to see women with her body type being considered beautiful.
