     Ray Guns
  • Why are all firearms futuristic ray guns? I thought the industry moved past the stigma of featuring realistic firearms over a decade ago.
    • Ray guns are cool.
    • Also since this is a Superman show, regular guns wouldn't be a threat to our protagonist, while sci-fi/alien energy weapons can narratively be used to be able to actually injure/damage Superman to some degree, unlike regular bullets.
    • This version of Metropolis is also shown to be pretty high-tech, to begin with. There are holographic displays, for example, so there's the likelihood that weapons would also be more sci-fi. The show's rated TV-PG-V, which normally allows traditional guns, so this is unlikely a censorship issue unless stated otherwise.
    • That said, this WAS originally meant to air on regular Cartoon Network. So the Ray guns may have been a case of "just to be safe".
    • The flashback in "Zero Day Part 2" ultimately confirms that the show can depict regular-looking guns with appropriate sound effects, in addition to showing blood when Amanda Waller is shot in the arm. It supports that the present day has more advanced weaponary tech since the initial "Zero Day" incident, which happens to be laser-based. This is the same network that showed the original seasons of Young Justice with similar instances, so it's less likely a censorship issue.
    Lois and secrets
  • Why does Lois feel entitled to Clark's secret despite only knowing him for a few weeks?
    • Because she's got seriously unresolved issues about her father keeping secrets/lying to her, Clark and she promised "no more lies" in episode 1 (and Clark was lying about not being Superman even if only by omission), and because their budding romance made it feel like a bigger breach of trust than it actually is.
    Korean Loises
  • Why is every Lois in the League Korean-American?
    • To be immediately recognizable as Lois. But we see in their headquarters that she isn't always Korean-American.
    Myzptlk appearance
  • Why does everyone say that Myzptlk looks like the Supreme Kai when he looks more like a pint-sized version of Whis?
    • Seriously compare their respective hairstyles and outfits to his. Supreme Kai is bald with a mohawk. Myzptlk isn't, he has a full head of hair styled almost exactly like Whis'. Ditto for Myzptlk's outfit, the design and colors are more like what Whis wears. So what gives?
    • Mxy's hair doesn't much resemble Whis' either — with all the spikes, it's a closer (albeit not exact) match to Supreme Kai than anything else. That said, Mxy's blue skin does recall more Whis than most of the Kais, and the clothes are something just about any Dragon Ball character would wear.
Vikki's sloppy "journalism" and what it might cost her
  • Is Vicki not concerned that her entire article can be invalidated by details or even just articles about the Ivo incident? Her entire journalistic integrity would be called into question with the police report. If she ignored major details for a promotion, what did she twist in her other stories?
    • You'd think that, but sadly, this one counts as Truth in Television, as has been proven by right-wing media outlets like Fox News whose opinion hosts have built their careers on lying to their viewersnote  by telling them only what they wanted to hear. Yet, they still have a loyal base of millions who continue to tune in to their network. Vicki likely believes she can do the same thing and get away with it, as long as her readers don't care about the truth or journalistic integrity. All she has to do is give them what they want: dirt.
    • And CNN has gotten in trouble for editing video. You're still proving the point. Much of the lies by all news media get away with it by using conjecture or being couched in opinion. When they manipulate the truth, they tend to get attacked and lose credibility. If Superman wanted, he could easily file a defamation suit.
    • "You're still proving the point." How exactly? The Dominion suit only caused Fox News to lose money, not viewers. And how's Supes gonna find time to take Vicki to court when he's already got his hands full simply trying to balance his superheroics with his internship at the Daily Planet? What's he gonna do, duck in and out of the courtroom every time he hears a distress call?
    • Superman might not take Vicki to court, but who's to say that she might not get her own major case of Laser-Guided Karma later on from someone else? Or, better yet, the Gotham Gazette could have something like what was mentioned above happen to them because of her.
    Translator
  • Why didn't Jor-El incorporate a universal translator into the rocket?
    • If Supergirl is gonna be a thing in this universe, it's possible they thought she would teach her baby cousin the Kryptonian language. If not, perhaps they thought it would go to a planet that would be familiar with Kyrptonians.
    • The planet was exploding. He might not have had time to install one.
    Ivo and the collar
  • Why wasn't Ivo able to absorb the energy from the shock collar to make himself stronger?
    • I'm guessing that the parasite suit can only absorb energy from the outside, not the inside. The collar was on Ivo's neck on the inside of the suit, and whilst the Parasite 2.0 appears to be bio-mechanical and starts evolving like it's becoming a living being unto itself in "Zero Day, Part 2", Ivo is still the suit's weak spot. Tearing him out or taking him down knocks the parasite suit down too, power absorption or not.
Why does Lois keep carrying the holosphere with her everywhere she goes?
  • Putting aside that she's unaware of the effect Kryptonite has on Clark, why hasn't it occurred to her that she should keep it somewhere safe?? Instead, she carelessly keeps an alien artifact with her in her shoulder bag, fully exposed where anyone can see it and easily activate itnote . Imagine if Vikki Vale, the General or, worse of all, Waller had gotten ahold of it. It would've been all the "confirmation" they'd need to justify their belief that Superman is a global threat waiting to happen.
    • On the other hand, it's possible that Lois is keeping ahold of it precisely because she doesn't want to let it out of her sight, even in a place somebody else might not find it, just in case somebody manages to stumble across it. And given that the sphere contains the only shown example of pure kryptonite in this show, it's arguably a good thing that Lois doesn't;t let it too far away from herself, in case somebody like Alex stumbled across it.
    • The Kryptonite itself isn't really the issue. It's the recorded footage proving that there are evil Supermen. If Alex or Vikki had gotten ahold of it, they likely would've used it to further convince Metropolis that Superman was a global threat and if Waller had seen those images, she'd be even more determined to kill him than she already is. I'm baffled that Lois hasn't considered any of that, especially given how easily most of Metropolis bought into Vikki's smear job.
    • Thing to remember is that, unlike other versions of the character, Lois is young and inexperienced, so some errors of this nature should be expected. She believes it'll be safest with her because she doesn't want to risk letting it out of her sight, but this comes with trade-offs she might not anticipate. Furthermore, she is still a trainee journalist; she just might not have the resources to be able to afford or acquire a safer place to store it. It's not like she can easily acquire a high-tech vault to keep it in, after all.
    • She doesn't need to be an experienced journalist, or a high-tech vault. All she needs is a bit of forethought and sense enough to not carry it around everywhere. Why not stash it at her apartment instead? No one else knew about the holosphere, so no one would've had any reason to look for it there. But, because of her carelessness, Jimmy's seen it and the next promo has shown so will Clark - for the exact same reason.
    • It's possible Lois was also carrying the orb around because she had thoughts about showing Clark (and maybe Jimmy). This mid-season made a point about Lois & Clark starting over and being more transparent about certain secrets that would affect them, hence Lois bring it along. However, she probably also had second thoughts about how to break the revelation to him, and being sidetracked by Vicki Vale's arrival and Clark's capture didn't help.
Is Ivo's Omega Rifle really that powerful?
  • When Gen. Lane visited the Kent's for Thanksgiving, he had Ivo's Omega Rifle on him. And the gun seemed to work well on the regular drones, but against the bigger drones it bounced right off. So what makes us think that the gun would have worked on Superman? It didn't seem especially powerful.
    • Clark was still suffering the effects of raw Kryptonite. In his weakened state, even normal punches can hurt him enough to cause severe injury. Plus, the Omega Cannon was presumably made using anti-Kryptonian tech. So even if it wasn't able to kill Clark on its own, it stands to reason that it'd likely be more than enough to finish him off.
Task Force X plan to capture Superman doesn't make sense?
  • Their plan to lure Superman doesn't make sense. They don't know about all his powers. And he just got the super hearing. What if he hasn't heard about Myst robbing that store? Then what? And when Myst ran away he was invisible pretty much the entire time. What is Superman didn't have a way to track him? Then what? What if he had been too busy to help Myst? They all gang up on him in the end and he still almost won, only losing due to being sleep deprived. What if he wasn't? What was the back up plan? There are way too many ways this could have gone wrong, and needed EVERYTHING to go right and Superman to act in very certain ways for this plan to succeed.
It should be impossible for Jor'el or Brainiac to know about kryptonite
  • How do Jor'el and Brainiac know about Kryptonite? Kryptonite is pieces of the planet Krypton after it exploded. There should be no way that Jor'el knows about it and there should be know way that Clark's ship should have defenses against it, or a weakness to it as it didn't exist when the ship was designed or built. Unless Jor'el and Brainiac have met up with the League of Lois Lane, they shouldn't even know about Kryptonite.
    • Assuming the series is following established canon from the comics, Kryptonite existed before their planet's destruction. Just as lead and mercury exists naturally here on Earth. The Kryptonians were also a race of scientists, so it's hardly surprising that they'd be aware of a potentially lethal element on their homeworld, or that they'd devise defensive measures against it.
