Headscratchers / Forged in Fire

  • Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but how does the show make sure that contestants don't cheat during the 5-day forging at their homes (i.e. being helped by fellow blacksmiths, or having someone bring them materials they'll need later while they continue working)? Are they watched 24/24?
    • Given that there's sometimes footage of the contestants at their home forges, I'd say they're watched the entire time (or at least as much of it as is reasonably possible).
    • Although the final challenge is billed as 4 or 5 days, it's working days. There's a limited number of hours per day each smith is allowed to work and each entire working day is filmed. If the smiths tried to cheat it would be readily apparent to the film crew when they produced work-product that hadn't been filmed in production.
