Headscratchers / Far Cry 6

  • So Jose Castillo is supposed to be a nephew of Anton Castillo, this would mean Anton has a brother but the game never brought him up and treats as if Anton is the only child of Gabriel Castillo. Is Jose adopted to be a nephew?
    • There's a brief mention of Anton asking Diego something like "how many of your uncle's troops are farmers" — so they do acknowledge Anton had a brother, but it's possible Anton's brother was too young to really be relevant, at least in terms of Anton's backstory.
    • The only family Anton seems to care about is his son, Diego. Even Diego's mother gets very little acknowledgement. It isn't hard to accept that Anton had a brother who either died, is exiled, or willingly left Yara, and Anton simply doesn't bring it up. He keeps Jose around because Jose is loyal even though Jose is The Caligula and a not-insignificant part of why Anton is so hated.
  • So in the end, to save his son from capture, Antón gives him a Mercy Kill by shooting him in the chest, and then proceeds to slit his own throat. Why didn't he just shoot himself in the head? He already had a gun, and it would much quicker and less painful.
    • Presumably he only had a single bullet.
    • Castillo is being needlessly dramatic, I imagine. As we've seen many times, he loves making things overly complicated and this is his final moment.
    • Probably a symbolic gesture. During the interview with Tilly (the American journalist) she suggests he still keeps the blade he used to prune tobacco, back when he was forced to work the fields on the aftermath of the '67 revolution.
  • Does the Yaran miracle drug even work? It's made from tobacco and a chemical weapon that is used as fertilizer.
    • Well, we know it managed to keep Anton's cancer at bay for nearly thirteen years.
      • How the drug works: the tobacco's chemicals poison and kill off the cancerous cells. I mean, humans use radiation to combat cancer. Its not that far fetched.
  • When did Vaas and Hoyt start a war with one another? They were allied against Jason Brody as of Far Cry 3 or did it happen during the video game? Is Vaas an Unreliable Narrator?
    • Hoyt's privateers were established to plot against him from time to time (Jason ruining their side job was his ticket in), so it's very possible that Vaas and his pirates did so too, but were interrupted by the sudden excess of machetes in their bodies.
  • Did Juan actually betray Dani in "Dead Drop"? No one else knew about their secret mission and Juan kept the circle between him as well as them to sell the viviro. However, it's also possible the CIA contact they were selling to sold them out. But Juan is just as likely to keep his business going.
    • Unlikely, since Juan specifically tells Vaas that now, with Castillo gone, the Viviro flow has tripled. It's more likely that Anton left around a conveniently unguarded box of Viviro with a tracker or something, to see who takes it and where, in order to bust whoever delivers it. It's also possible that Juan asked Dani to deliver it because every other delivery boy out there has been caught.
