• Dani's interview in the first episode is exceedingly awkward, with her attempts at putting on a chipper attitude clearly not landing with Henry, who seems to want to get the interview over with as soon as possible and frequently cuts her off in the middle of speaking. At one point, she makes an ill-advised attempt at a British accent, and Henry responds with a weary "Oh, God" before getting up to grab some tea.
• Flora, when giving a tour of the manor to Dani in the first episode, describes many of the rooms as "perfectly splendid"...except the classroom, which she describes as "... quite boring."
• A classic Gilligan Cut: Flora is insistent that she will stay up all night. Cue the next scene, where she's fast asleep with Miles.
• When Jamie assures Dani she doesn't have to go to Owen's mother's funeral, Dani is relieved, and asks Jamie to help her get her dress off.
  Jamie: Blimey. (clears throat)
• The adults are treated to an uncomfortable story time performance from Miles, til the phone rings.
  Owen: Thank Christ. Peter Quint to the rescue.
• Dani notes that Flora's pants are wet from kneeling in the grass. Flora is mightily amused, since to Brits the word "pants" refers to underwear rather than what they call "trousers," and even gleefully runs to tell Hannah about it.
• The American Dani is basically a Lethal Chef when it comes to tea. Eventually the rest of the staff all just immediately shout "No!" when she offers to make it.
