- In a Crosses the Line Twice manner, Doug's constant abandoning of Reggie, but only because Reggie keeps interpreting it as a game, which he calls "Fetch and Fuck". Basically, whenever Doug tries to abandon Reggie by throwing a ball, getting him to fetch it, and then driving back home, Reggie keeps coming back with the ball, Doug constantly responding with "Fuck!".Reggie: And that's how I know I won the game!
- Josh Gad's cameo as a narrator dog, Gus, parodying his role in A Dog's Purpose. He laments how nobody is able to hear his inner monologue, given that his owner is a serial killer.
- The exchange he has with Bug when the latter is high is also hilarious.Bug: DOLORES, COME BACK!
Gus: "He yelled to the sky. But what Bug didn't realize..."
Bug: Fuck you, narrator dog!
Gus: "He said."

- One of the landmarks back to Reggie’s house is a “devil in the sky” - meaning a billboard with a postman on it. The four dogs take their time yelling abuse at the billboard, Hunter adding "Stupid hat and stupid truck!" to the more vulgar insults.
- Dennis Quaid cameos as himself doing bird-watching activities and logging down which ones he sees, except his notebook is just "Bird" written repeatedly, and him checking off random boxes. He then witnesses Reggie and Bug being carried by the hawk.Quaid: Holy shit. That is the craziest thing I have ever seen. And I'm Dennis Quaid, and Dennis Quaid has seen some shit.
- After Reggie and Bug escape the hawk, Bug proclaims that he's learned an important lesson from all this: birds don't have visible genitalia.Hunter: Well, how do they...?Bug: I dunno. Maybe they have both parts inside. So if you were to say "Go fuck yourself", they could actually do it.
