- During her time with Jaune, Raven can't and won't stay away from whatever alcohol he has in the house, even consuming a four-pack during a single visit. Apparently, the apples didn't hit the ground far apart from each-other when her and Qrow were born.
- Ozpin takes a little too much pleasure in bursting his old student's bubble when Nicholas Arc storms into his office and demands to know where his son Jaune is. He later says that someone barging in and accusing him of child abduction is a first for him, which is saying something.
- Despite his best efforts to partner with Emerald, Whitley doesn't manage to. Rather, the sophisticated boy about Ruby's age gets put on a team with the Malachite twins and Neo. Kid's gonna get eaten alive.
- In chapter 80, during his self-introduction Jaune describes his combat background as being trained by a fairy godmother. His teammates think he's an idiot.
- When Whitley, Sun, and Emerald go visit an arcade, Whitley and Sun get into a serious game of table hockey in order to win Emerald's attention. Whitley freezes his gate shut while Sun summons a Semblance duplicate to help out. Emerald finds the situation to be rather exasperating.
- In chapter 101, Jaune diffuses the fight between Raven and Summer by telling them that Taiyang needs to be the one to deal with this since he's not the one who "stuck his dick into two different kinds of crazy", following it up by telling Summer that Raven sneaks into a fifteen year old boy's bedroom every night. He even adds on that the boy has blonde hair like Taiyang. Summer is disgusted, Raven is infuriated, and the fight actually comes to a stop.
- In chapter 116, Jaune and Summer have a serious conversation about whether or not Salem could be weakened by drug addictions and whether they should get Ozpin/Roman to get them some narcotics to test the theory.
