Beauty And The Beast (Little Golden Book)

Mac And Me Review Review Review
  • The sheer insanity of the video’s premise: Not satisfied with his review of Mac and Me, Phelous reviewed his review- and then, not satisfied with how his ‘Review Review“ came out, Phelous decided to review it.

The Princess And The Pea (Bevanfield)
  • Phelous’s This Is Gonna Suck reaction upon finding out that “The Princess And The Pea”, a fairy tale that’s already rather pointless, got an Animated Adaptation by the masters of pointlessness and Padding themselves, Bevanfield Films.
  • A clip of the prince in the movie yawning while the narrator says that he’s “completely uninterested” is used as a Running Gag because, well, Phelous is also completely uninterested in the movie!
  • “And if that’s not enough repetition for you, prepare for amazement as we fade out of this shot into the same damn shot!”
  • Somehow, a great portion of the film’s runtime is taken up by shots of people shaking their head.
Phelous: I want to wring that stupid head-shaking queen’s neck by the end of this.
  • “He thought their son should get married, and then he said their son should be married. That’s some real setup and payoff right there”.
  • Making fun of an extremely bizarre sound effect that accompanies the introduction of the first princess candidate:
Phelous: Oh, she squeaks when she curtsies. Can’t marry that monster.
  • The second princess candidate is named “Bob”, something that Bevanfield apparently thinks is much funnier than it actually is.
Phelous: Ladies and gentlemen, the comedy stylings of Bevanfield!
  • This exchange:
    King: This is terrible!
    Phelous: I agree.
  • Pointing out the Queen’s bizarrely pointy ears:
Phelous: Also, is the evil queen an elf?
  • When the third princess candidate turns out to be an actress…
Phelous!Queen: An actress! We can’t afford an actress in this lazy cartoon!
  • “I think we’ve found you a perfect match, Dummy Locks! The evil vegetable mother from ''Rapunzel''!”
  • This mock advertisement for the movie:
Phelous: Do you like the feeling that you’re stuck in a boring conversation you have absolutely no interest in? If so, this movie’s for you!
  • “And he and his cousin fell in love, much to Monsieur Renard’s approval!”
  • When the Dummy Locks’ latest girlfriend, “Agnes the Scottish nurse”, teaches the King a “country dance”, the animators decide to actually show him dancing. The resulting animation is so absurdly ridiculous that Phelous can only stare in shock.
  • Phelous’s continued bafflement at the presence of telephones in a movie supposedly set in the Middle Ages. Eventually, he decides to pull out the big guns, namely the Garfield phone.
  • “The Prince enters doing the same animation where he’s leading a girl in with him by hand, but he’s not supposed to have one with him this time. So they just zoomed it in because… lazy.”
  • When the narrator describes the Prince as doing something “impatiently”:
Phelous: You live in Dimension Molasses. You can’t be impatient.
  • “The Prince yawns again, which is the closest this movie ever comes to relating with its audience”.
  • Narrator: The Queen sat down, disappointed.
Phelous!Narrator: She sat down figuratively. I mean, could you imagine actually animating that?
  • Making fun of the sound effect for the princess waving her fan just being someone vocally imitating fan noises.
  • When the next princess the Real Princess Agency sends the Queen is revealed to be named “Anastasia”
Phelous (holding up the DVD of The Secret of Anastasia): So sure, let’s add Anastasia to this!
    Phelous!Queen: Who are her parents?
Phelous!Narrator: … asked the Queen as she juggled chainsaws… negatively.
Phelous!Real Princess Agency Receptionist: Oh, she’s the spawn of some musical instruments! That’s her big secret! At least she doesn’t have wings now!
  • When the king randomly eats a bite of toast while discussing whether to perform the Pea Test on Anastasia, Phelous is surprised they actually bothered animating him eating.
  • The Prince’s thoughts on Princess Anastasia:
Prince: Well, she’s very beautiful and funny, but silly. All she wants to do is play!
Phelous!Prince: She’s not boring enough for my tastes. Get me some plain toast just like dear old Daddy.
  • “Then, almost 22 minutes in, we finally meet the title princess of ‘Princess And The Pea’!”
  • And, when the Pea Princess gets ready to sleep, Bevanfield is too lazy to actually animate her sleeping on top of the mattress stack, so they just fade out and then fade back in in the morning.
  • Ending the review
Phelous: Now I’m off to sleep on a million mattresses with a small vegetable under them to see if I’m worth a damn.
Phelous: I slept fine. I’m garbage.
