Come to the public pool, he said. It'll be relaxing, he said.

  • After several abortive attempts to help Doof make himself more appealing to the ladies, Mari has to deal with Cate ranting about the dearth of good men. Mari's glance to the reader screams "I am so done with this".
  • Doof thinking Mindy's in a toxic relationship because Apex wouldn't buy a skirt for her. Then he sends her a white-knighting text message...with a hasty follow-up pleading with her not to tell Apex.
  • Doof tries a new look: "Chad Slayer". There's a sword involved.
  • The arc where Doof works under Cate:
    • Doof drains Cate's life force from her by just standing there.
    • Instead of doing his assigned tasks, he repeatedly implements unrequested technical "enhancements" without any advance notification or handover, causing multiple delays and driving Cate up the wall.
    • Eventually he asks Cate for a reference so he can transfer to another department. She considers the moral and ethical implications...then recommends him highly enough for "CEO, President and Pope" and switches out her usual red wine for celebratory champagne.
  • Cate gets some sweet, sweet bias confirmation from internet clickbait headlines:
    • "Strong, Successful, Domineering, & Still Single? Here's Why That's Actually A Good Thing!"
    • "Dying Alone: The Hip New Trend"
  • Mickey Mouse...in drag. Especially Cate's reaction.
Cate: Uh, that position has been filled. Forever.
  • Stoke trying to ask Jami on a date. He blushes, sweats and struggles to get the words out, while a heavy-lidded Jami toys with him like a cat.
  • Doof's date with Becky. His conversation is a stream of awkward boasts, insensitive comments and tiresome questions. She eventually sneaks out while he's badgering her to appreciate his favourite mashup of death metal and hypnagogic pop.
  • Thanks to Doof's naysaying, Stoke is anxious about dating Jami. Apex calms him by saying to do the opposite of whatever Doof says...then reawakens his nerves tenfold by advising him not to talk about tennis.
  • When preparing for her first date with Stoke, Jami agrees to leave her "bitch face" at home. She nonetheless whips one out when the subject of Kira, aka "Tennis Barbie", comes up.
  • Jami comes to Stoke's tennis tour match as his cheerleader.

"How can you tell it's not funny if you don't wait for the punchline?"
