• How Kennedy's dad's demeanor goes from cheery to outright angry after being told he brought her birthday cake out too early:
  Mr. Graves: I picked this up at eight in the goddamn morning; it's time to eat.
• Kayla's dad's horribly confused expression when she tries proving to him that she likes bananas now.
  Mark: ...Are you sure you like them?
• Gabe's enjoyably awkward behavior during his and Kayla's first official "friend hang out." As soon as the two of them sit down to eat their McDonald's chicken nuggets, he blurts out "Do you believe in God?"
