Funny / Atmosfear

Go To

Despite being primarily a horror-based game, the Atmosfear series occasionally has its funny moments, sometimes dipping into levels of Black Comedy.

Nightmare

  • One Time card lets you scream at 59:59, "just for the hell of it".

Nightmare II

  • Baron Samedi cheats in the player with his piece's favor, and doesn't even bother to hide it.
  • Late into the game, Baron Samedi apologises to Dirtbag for treating them badly and gives them an additional turn, telling them to roll the dice... As it turns out, that's how many turns they'll have to miss.

Nightmare III

  • Normally the games say "Turn the volume up and the lights down". But here it's "Turn the heat up and the lights down". Good luck with that...

Nightmare IV

The Harbingers

Instructions

  • The Gatekeeper's summation of the provinces being assembled in any order:
The Gatekeeper: Makes for a pretty pattern, doesn't it, maggots?
  • The Gatekeeper telling the narrator to point out where the headstones are:
The Gatekeeper: I don't mean to interrupt, but uh... Point the six headstones out to these idiots for me.
    • And when the narrator does so:
The Gatekeeper: I bet you were good at show and tell, eh?
  • The Gatekeeper's description of the Numbskull tokens:
The Gatekeeper: I like them skulls. Grinding the number in was almost as much fun as cleaning their insides out!
  • The Gatekeeper's description of the Well of Fears:
The Gatekeeper: That is where all the garbage goes, eh? And whatever you're afraid of... is probably rubbish!

Main game

  • Near the end of the tape, the Gatekeeper calls on the next person in line to take away their turn. He then goes to the next person in line... and takes away their turn too. He then goes to the next person after that and banishes them.
  • One of the Fate cards tells you to wait until after you've carried out the action to read it out, because the Fate is to suddenly scream and then take a keystone from anyone who was visibly startled.

The Soul Rangers

The Gatekeeper (2004)

Khufu the Mummy

  • Khufu describing what being his servant is like.
What it lacks in glamour, it makes up for in lack of dignity.

Other

  • In the SNES game, Bathory's Castle ending with a crudely drawn "The End" due to it being unfinished may be worth a chuckle.
  • The contact form for the official website has this bit which is a Call-Back to the 2004 game:
The gatekeeper may respond to your query, if he’s not away doing something more interesting. Like having his teeth drilled...
