Sheila's opposition to Ranze mingling with humans at first looks like plain old conservatism....but according to Word of God, she was born in 1799, when witch hunts and "vampire burnings" were commonplace. Given that her daughter is a vampire, she might be wanting to prevent her from falling into the same fate.
