Manua Apgar and Riker were both attracted to each other and willingly engaged in an affair as stated in Tayna's version. However, both of them forgot their own willingnes because of regrets and how bad the situation did turn. Riker beamed back on the Enterprise from a mission that didn't go well for him and immediately learns he could have just died in a space station explosion. He is then accused of having caused this murderous explosion. He feels he has been trapped, but he's wrong about who trapped him. Manua doesn't know yet about the dark side of her husband, so she thinks Riker is the murderous manipulative liar.
