Fridge / One Piece: Whole Cake Island Arc

  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • Judge told Sanji never to speak of him or his lineage to the Vinsmokes ever again when Sanji cut his ties with the family. This is why we hear absolutely nothing about the part of Sanji's past prior to working on the Orbit cruise ship all these years since his introduction, and he made no mention of his last name. Surprisingly, no one asked what it was or ever bothered to ask, even among the crew, but given the fact that there three crew members as of this arc besides him do not use/have last names (Nami, Usopp, and Brook), they might have been content with knowing him by what he chooses to go by, just like nobody calls Franky "Cutty Flam".
    • Sanji going by the alias Mr. Prince in the Alabasta Arc points back to the fact he came from royalty.
    • Sanji's wanted poster ended up being a horrible composite sketch because his father was actively looking for him and would have closed in on him once he had a proper photograph. It also explains why Sanji's bounty was hiked twice as much as the rest of the crew who wasn't present for the Dressrosa rebellion.
    • Duval had to wear an iron mask to hide his face after being forced to go on the run. This eerily mirrors Sanji's childhood situation and provides stronger justification as to why he got so unusually mad at Duval beyond just looking like him.
    • All of Sanji's siblings have unusually colored hair except him, whose hair is blond just like that of his birth father (though his is more goldenrod). This is because their DNA has been tampered with and probably a side effect.
    • Urouge was able to defeat a Sweet Commander, albeit with heavy injuries in the process. From what we've seen of his Devil Fruit abilities, as he gets progressively more injured, he becomes more and more powerful. We also know that Big Mom's crew gave chase to him with plans to wipe him out. We see he's pretty banged up on a Sky Island right at the end of the Dressrosa Arc, presumably coming out of this fight. First off, he's a Skypiean, so he knows how to traverse to and from Sky Islands somehow and possesses the ability to do so. Secondly, what better place to hide from the Big Mom Pirates than in the sky — that's how his crew survived! Thirdly, he's covered in bandages, so that means he took quite a beating, thus had accumulated a ton of damage that he could use against Snack. Finally, since he was able to beat a Sweet Commander, that meant it isn't unreasonable to think other Supernovas can contend with the others and possibly even defeat them, especially through using a similar method of reversal, which is exactly what happened when Luffy turned the tables on Charlotte Cracker with his own power.
    • Why does Tamago wear sunglasses and Pedro hide the left side of his face under his hair? Pedro took Tamago's eye in a fight, and he wears his sunglasses to disguise the handicap. Likewise, Pedro gave up his own eye as a rather gruesome compromise and started covering that self-inflicted disfigurement with his bangs.
    • Why is Snack absent for 90% of the arc? Because along with a large number of other Charlotte Family cohorts, Oven summons him as a last line of defense from the neighboring Totto Land. Not everyone was an active part of the tea party- somebody had to make sure the outlying territories were safe, too. The situation becomes so desperate at the climax of the WCI Arc that it finally forces the Big Mom Pirates to throw everything but the kitchen sink at their enemies, including the pirates guarding the territories, because their sea slug security patrol has been sabotaged.
  • Fridge Horror:
    • When Mother Carmel created a sun named Pandora, she used a blaze consuming the entire village of Elbaf to make it. It was only about the size of a baseball. However, Big Mom's counterpart to Pandora, Prometheus, is the size of a medicine ball. Just how big was the blaze she used to make him? And what did she do to create it? And did she make him that big all at once or through multiple chaos-induced blazes? Moreover, what kind of storm(s) did she use to craft Zeus?
    • Big Mom gained her Devil Fruit power by eating the previous user. That implies across the board that if someone eats the part of the person that houses the essence of the Devil Fruit, it transfers over to them.
    • The Minister of the Left was responsible for putting that massive charge of explosives in the Tamatebako Box. He didn't do it as overkill — the New World is full of monsters that require that much destructive power as a prerequisite to bring them down.
    • Given what happened in Big Mom's flashback to Mother Caramel and the other children when they got too close to Big Mom during her hunger pangs, Jimbei really dodged a bullet when he gave Big Mom that croquembouche and didn't get eaten by mistake.
    • Charlotte Pudding snapping from the horrific bullying she got for being third-eyed and becoming psychopathic afterwards raises questions: did Big Mom raise her other children the same way as well? How many of her children were actually good before they started emulating her behavior and values?
    • Big Mom has had children at least yearly up to fairly recently. Chapter 890 has Jimbei Megaton Punch her right in the stomach, after she's already weakened somewhat after an eight-hour hunger rampage. Let's hope she wasn't pregnant when this happened.
    • The last pages of Chapter 901 reveal Stussy and Morgans are in a hot air balloon literally having a birds-eye view of the chaos in Totto Land like a news copter. And they are in a perfect position to flee the action unhindered. They have witnessed everything that is happening with the Big Mom Pirates thrown into turmoil and the Straw Hat Pirates being at the epicenter of it. The horrifying implications of this are that they are both going to forward this news to the World Government and Cipher Pol alike, and Morgans is supportive of Luffy and will likely play him up as a threat in the news. End result? The obvious World Government and Marines reactions, bounty increases across the board, and a harsher response mobilized against the Worst Generation. But this isn't the biggest problem... Kaido will likely learn all about it and react accordingly, as he almost certainly has eyes and ears in high places just like Big Mom. The odds of liberating Wano just got a whole lot worse. Ergo, saving Sanji came at the cost of saving Wano easier. Furthermore, dealing with a bunch of Big Mom Pirates who are arrogant and foolish and not taking Luffy and co. seriously comes at the price of making the Beast Pirates — the pirate crew who is absolutely merciless and blood-craven — fight in earnest.
    • Even Big Mom considers Kaido a monster. Just how menacing is he!?!
  • Fridge Logic:
    • Stussy is an agent of Cipher Pol Aigis Zero who has infiltrated the criminal underworld so deep she's allied herself with and able to freely interact with Big Mom and track her movements. The World Government has a direct line of surveillance over a Yonko in secrecy, and they can respond against her with force very quickly if she suddenly makes a move against them. But they don't lift a finger for any of her present rampages across the world because she's so strong she could give even Sakazuki a run for his money. The best they can do is secretly monitor her and move to intercept should the worst-case scenario take place. On top of that, we don't know the full extent of her espionage mission; if she's simply reporting her findings to Cipher Pol (which is known to do things unbeknownst to anyone to the point of being almost total unknowns) and not the World Government at large, there's no foundation in place to unseat the Emperor from power; thus, no one takes direct action against Big Mom at the risk of opening a huge can of worms.
    • Why is Big Mom so hungry all the time? And why did she once look gorgeous? A sketch Oda made of Charlotte Linlin in her twenties shows that she was at one point hot and slim. A flashback also upholds this look. If she was pudgy as a kid and morbidly obese as an elderly lady, then why was she slim for a time? The answer emerges after she goes eight hours and counting without eating and her body rapidly burns through her fat content to make her slim. This means her metabolism is ridiculous.
