• In Unkindest Tide, Toby has to promise the Luidaeg to bring Simon Torquill home. But while part of that is because, for various reasons, the Luidaeg is actively looking for something that won't be too hard on Toby (we all know she'd have gone after Simon anyway), it's not entirely about Simon himself at all. Because remember, Simon took on August's bargain: he gave up his way home until Oberon is found. So Toby actually promised to go find Oberon. Which, again, she was going to do anyway, but now she has to.
