Fridge / Mrs. Doubtfire

Fridge Brilliance

  • Daniel quits a kid's cartoon because it doesn't condemn smoking harshly enough for his liking. When you see how devoted he is to his children, it makes him look a lot more responsible as a parent.
  • People commonly criticize the opening scene for being unrealistic, explaining that they find a cartoon in the 90s with a smoking character to be outlandish. But it's likely that Daniel was hired for a remastering of the cartoon from a time where smoking in a cartoon was commonplace, especially considering his talent for impersonation.
  • The film features two different characters having a birthday party. Both of which end in disaster largely because of Daniel's self-centeredness.
    • The birthday Daniel throws for Chris results in Miranda finally reaching her limit with Daniel and divorcing him.
    • Miranda's birthday ends with her finding out her beloved nanny was actually her ex-husband in disguise.
  • Daniel's trolling Miranda with fake phone calls isn't just for the purpose of getting on her nerves. It also makes her that much more likely to accept Mrs Doubtfire, given the contrast with the other applicants.

Fridge Horror

  • Daniel spiking Stu's food is forgotten after said scene. Unless he confessed it, the restaurant would be blamed for it and somebody would likely lose his or her job.
    • He ordered jambalaya. Jambalaya typically has cayenne in it. The waiter is seen making a note to make his "not spicy". The restaurant would probably claim it was a mix-up with the order and he was given a serving of their already prepared batch of food. They have a reasonable defense.
