Fridge Brilliance

  • "What are birds? We just don't know." The Birds of Britain extra reveals that in the LAY verse, birds have only been around since 1962. Since the show is set in the 70s, it makes sense that they don't know much about a recently arrived species.

Fridge Logic

  • "Intelligent calcium is not intelligent in the sense that you or I are intelligent, but intelligent in that it is sentient. I.e. it is aware of itself and its surroundings." It is also able to communicate this awareness in human terms. How exactly is this different from human intelligence?
  • There's a shot in Series 1 Music with the narrator saying "You might not be the next Mozart" with a bust. The bust is of Beethoven.
    • See above.
    • Just to confuse things further, series 2 contains a reference to Mozhoven.
  • The winner of the "futuristic song" competition is the one that best flatters the early-80s idea of futuristic music, but it's also the one that most closely resembles real popular music in the year 2000. Not sure what this proves, but anyway...
