Fridge Brilliance:

  • In Pocket Mirror, the Strange Boy can't claim Goldia's soul because of the eponymous object, resorting to create Enjel in order to destroy it. As it turns out, the pocket mirror was a blessed object given by Lebkuchen. No wonder the demonic Strange Boy couldn't touch it, as Holy Burns Evil.
  • The chore minigames that you play to earn money demand ridiculously high scores for achieving S-rank, the best possible outcome. The villagers tend to voice their dissatisfaction with more average outcomes such as B-rank or even A-rank. They seem to be unnecessarily demanding, until you realize that Elise's main competitor in the maid-of-all-work business is Freya. It would make sense that the villagers' expectations would be set to what Freya could possibly achieve - this explains their view of Elise as a rather mediocre maid, and Elise's deep resentment towards Freya.
  • The boss fight with the Avantesma (a transformed Aziel) including flash quizzes that gauge Elise's understanding of her chosen love interest. The demon is checking whether Elise's love for the girl is powerful enough for her to gain the final gift, the Good Company, which would enable her to complete the ritual for entering Ozzy's realm.
  • It seems rather puzzling that Ozzy would allow his Golden Maidens to approach his next mark, since quite a few of them attempt to talk the unfortunate girl out of her ill-advised quest. However, it makes sense when you recall (from Pocket Mirror) that Ozzy enjoyed fostering a feeling of harrowing regret and guilt in his victims. He knows that the targeted girls are too desperate and foolish to heed any advice, and by providing ample warning of the true cost of his contract, he would be able to maximize their regret and guilt, since they have only themselves to blame for their lover's horrific death.

Fridge Horror:

  • To make a contract with the Strange Boy, one must sacrifice their most beloved person, such as Grandma Holle and Elise eventually do. In Pocket Mirror it's stated Henri did a contract as well. Who did he sacrifice?
    • Most likely Roman, given his absence in Goldia's later life. The situation with Valerie, Sanni and Alpenrose hints that you don't have to exactly sacrifice a loved one to get a contract with Ozzy.
  • In the ending where Rozenmarine is sacrificed, Elise gets the pocket mirror from Lebkuchen as a protection charm for Goldia. Now, one has to wonder...what happens to Goldia in the endings where Freya or Lebkuchen die? While Goldia is "taken", this isn't elaborated on much.
  • In a way, the happy endings where Elise refuses to meet Ozzy and consequently lives out her life with her chosen love interest. There is no mention of Count die Heilige in those endings, which implies that Henri and Goldia wouldn't have even existed had it not been for Elise's contract with Ozzy. The only possible outcomes for the the twins were a state of non-existence, or a life filled with absolute misery and the constant predations of a sadistic demon.
  • The fact that Ozzy himself is never truly defeated in Little Goody Two Shoes or Pocket Mirror. The horrors that Elise experienced would likely be repeated over and over, only with different victims each time... Even more chilling when you recall that her son Henri now fills in for Murim and Aziel in Pocket Mirror, tormenting the unfortunate victims of Ozzy.
  • It is left ambiguous whether Rozenmarine was truly Elise's fated soulmate or not. She claimed to have seen visions of Elise ever since childhood, in her prophetic dreams and the alignment of stars, but as a witch she would have been highly vulnerable to manipulation by demons. Since Ozzy had likely intended to reclaim Elise's soul from the moment of her birth, it would make sense for him to carefully prepare a pliable pawn who would both guide Elise through her trials and, if necessary, volunteer herself as the sacrifice required for the contract. In that regard, Rozenmarine was indeed the perfect candidate for carrying out Ozzy's schemes, which could possibly imply that she was manipulated into believing that Elise was her soulmate. The fact that Ozzy is perfectly willing to accept Freya or Lebkuchen as the sacrifice in their bad endings seems to imply that Rozenmarine's obsession with fate and Elise was actually the result of thorough brainwashing by Ozzy and his minions...

Fridge Logic:

  • Not only is Elise a lesbian, but Roman was bewitched into loving and marrying her, due to her contract with the Strange Boy. While that explains their later Awful Wedded Life, in Pocket Mirror the Little Goody Two Shoes Ending to that game shows an alternate timeline where Elise never formed a contract with Ozzy, yet Goldia is reborn as her daughter. That ending is all the more puzzling, since none of the happy endings involves Elise marrying Roman.
    • One potential explanation that doubles at Fridge Horror is that the Strange Boy isn't the only one pursuing Elise, and that Walpurgia's main goal for possessing Elise is to 'create life' herself by becoming a mother. It's very possible that in a timeline where Elise never contracted with the Strange Boy and remained a peasant, Walpurgia won and got her wish instead, with Goldia being none the wiser.
  • In Ending 1, which is canonical to the Pocket Mirror timeline, Lebkuchen seems to be perfectly aware of Elise's contract with Ozzy, and even had the eponymous protective charm at hand in anticipation of Elise's visit. While Lebkuchen did suspect Elise of nefarious activities, her own bad endings, specifically Endings 3 and 9, reveal that she wasn't fully aware of the extent to which Elise was involved with demons. She would have been aware of Elise and Rozenmarine's sudden disappearance, but that doesn't explain her apparent clairvoyance or powers of deduction. Did she truly possess divine powers as hinted in-game?
  • In Ending 2, it is shown that a grieving Gustav is completely unaware of what really happened to Freya and Elise. But Elise leaves town for Count die Heilige's castle in a luxurious carriage, with the town's womenfolk watching. The game doesn't explain why Gustav would be ignorant of that fact. Moreover, since Lebkuchen survived in that timeline, she would have likely deduced the truth as in Ending 1. Wouldn't she have informed Gustav to give him some sense of closure? Also, it isn't really explained why Elise failed to seek out Lebkuchen's help in that timeline.
  • In Ending 3, Elise is reunited with Lebkuchen's forgiving spirit after she dies. However, Lebkuchen had been turned into a golden girl, making the possibility of reunion unlikely. Was it truly her spirit? Or the delusions of a broken woman?
