  • The reasons why certain sieges by the government allow you to kill the attackers without being charged with murder:
    • CIA won't report their agents getting killed, as doing so would require them admitting that they illegally sent assassins after their own citizens. Thus, it ends up being self-defense, just like with corporate and CCS attacks. Not only that, but the CIA in particular are forbidden from operating on U.S. soil (hence why Americans have both the CIA and the FBI, even though their jobs can at times overlap). One can justify the use of police or the military against your safehouses as going after criminals or terrorists (as that's what LCS is), but having the government send CIA agents after you is a concrete violation of the law. Additionally, such agents would most likely be operating as Non-official cover or "NOC" agents, whose operations do not have legal protection if they get caught or compromised, and thus end up on the bad end of Plausible Deniability.
    • While firemen have law enforcement powers (as they will arrest anybody who surrenders), and unlawful speech is a crime at C+ laws (which is the only time they operate), it's likely that the government desires to avoid a Streisand Effect by prosecuting the murders of firemen, as such a case would attract a lot more publicity (and thus boost the popularity of your Liberal Guardian newspaper) than what seems to be an everyday fireman deployment.
