• Joel And The Bots make much mirth of the fact that the townspeople all vanish near the end of the movie, implying that they were all killed in the big shootout. But in fact, it makes sense that the townspeople are nowhere to be seen; they were ordered by Deputy Joshua to clear the streets before the climax.
