Like A Word, A Sound, A Song
- The concept of gemsong would explain why Gems appear to speak human language without even needing to meet humans, and why the Zoomans were able to communicate with Steven and Greg despite thousands of years of language drift.
- Of course Gems are good at singing. They literally sing to speak.
- Why does Steven have such a slow heartbeat? Well, it's confirmed that his gem is what keeps him alive. Lars and Lion, who were resurrected with Steven's powers, also display negligible heartbeats.
- Steven's body having the appearance of "shutting down" when he sleeps may be a case of Literal Metaphor- since Gems are basically AI, he may literally be entering a shutdown mode to approximate sleep.
- Why does Steven apparently trust Bismuth with very personal matters more than Garnet/Amethyst/Pearl, who he has known for far longer? Well, the trio, as well intentioned as they were in raising Steven, weren't actually very good guardians- as pointed out in SU:F, even if they've gone through Character Development, Steven essentially learned not to trust them, to the point of seeing himself as the parent in their relationship. Bismuth, on the other hand, has been shown to be consistently supportive of Steven as his own person, and lacked the Rose-related expectations that caused much of the other Crystal Gem's problems concerning Steven. And while she did mistakes with him, she quickly realized them and apologized without expectations of forgiveness.
- Gems are designed as a spacefaring race. Of course they can see ultraviolet- UV is an important component in the finding and categorizing stars.
Diamond Drop
- Thor seems depressed and anxious during this time period, a far cry from the way he acted in Thor 1 or Avengers. Well, Thor 1 was sort of a Trauma Conga Line for Thor, in retrospect. He'd been disowned and kicked out, thought his father had died, had possibly the first legitimate near-death experience in his life, and watched his brother commit suicide, all over the course of a few days. The Asgard arc of Diamond Drop occurs only a few months after Thor 1- to an aeisr, that's barely yesterday.
Three Can Keep A Secret, If Two Of Them Are Dead
- Adult Steven's Dissonant Serenity, pointed out by multiple viewpoints as odd or disturbing, makes a grim sort of sense.
- He was raised from a very early age to accept upsetting events and dangerous situations without complaint, and is proven within the show itself to have a habit of suppressing or not realizing his negative emotions.
- With his unusual lifestyle, he's not really fazed by many things, even when he should be, and has an altered sense of what is acceptable or normal by human standards.
- His powers, which have only continued to snowball over time, also fluctuate with his emotions. His attitude may be a necessary act of restraint in order to prevent himself from being an active danger to others.
