Fridge / Ciconia: When They Cry

Fridge Logic

  • Miyao's plan to cooperate between Gauntlet Knights of different sides so that when a knight has his shield down the other side lets him run away. The plan is extremely optimistic and doomed to eventually fail once an authority on either side notices the extremely low death toll. A far more logical alternative would have been that a losing knight peacefully surrenders to the other side: The losing knight remains alive and can be returned on any prisoner exchange or once the war is over (which is helpful since good knights are hard to train) and the winning side removes an obstacle at a potentially lower cost and gains a valuable hostage. The only issue that could arise is abuse towards the losing knight in prison which is: 1. Unlikely considering the pro-war ideals probably result in an equivelant to the Geneva conventions. 2. The gauntlet knights don't have a lot of military secrets.
  • The way the events of the apocalypse happen in Phase 1 is the same as the order of the Four Horsemen.
    • The Three Kings wanting to "guide humanity down the right path" - Conquest
    • World War IV - War
    • Food shortage/Hate Plague - Famine
    • The 8MS system used to rehabit the Earth deteriorates - Death. Numerous civillians and Gauntlet Knights also perish along the way.
      • The Japanese translation of "horsemen" uses the kanji for "knight", which can refer to Gauntlet Knights, being exploited and forced to carry out their orders.

Fridge Horror

  • While the original reason not to mention World War 3 makes sense, there is a far simpler reason: Considering the war was started by the 3 kings, not mentioning it removes all traces of them and makes the world far less ready if they repeat their methods.
  • The game mentions most countries create test tube babies, which role in life are dependent entirely of their genes more than free will. Which is very similar to the government in the book Brave New World. The question that rises if they don't go the extra step like in the books and sabotage or alter the fetus to create more subservient/useful castes of humans.
  • The profiles for the Gauntlet Knights are a landmine for this. Some examples include:
    • Yeladot Shavit girls casually have horrifying details listed alongside their abilities to sing and dance.
      • Stephania's profile implied that 20 other girls went missing after joining her caravan.
      • Leah's profile heavily implied that she was an assassin/spy for the ABN government.
      • Fatma posts articles criticizing the government in her blog, but the comments that agree with her posts mysteriously disappeared.
    • Rethabile is only the twenty-first in line for the throne, yet she is so beloved by ACR citizens. One of her 'special abilities' implies that this is done deliberately in-universe as the ACR Royal Family is shaping her to be a martyr for the country, so they built and hyped her image up as a popular and lovable princess knight.
    • Ishak is addicted to one of the drugs they gave him to improve his P3 levels.
    • Naima's profile heavily implied that the drugs that she was administered regularly with caused brain damages to other Gauntlet Knights in the same research program.
