Fridge Brilliance

  • In folklore, Pesta was said to carry both a broom and a rake that she used to spread the Black Death. If you saw her carrying a broom, it was a guarantee that everyone would die, while her rake ensured that there would be survivors. As far as we know, no one in the village lived, having either died of plague or cannibalized by the resurrected victims. Then Olle shows up and survives his encounter at the village. Turns out she wasn't lying after all.
    • Either that, or dying of starvation while holed up to hide from zombies doesn't technically count as being killed by the plague itself.
    • During your boss fight with her, she will try to slice Olle up using her rake and the player has to dodge it by getting in between the teeth. By going into battle with her rake, she upped Ollie's chances of survival.

Fridge Horror

  • After Olle's boss-fight with Kärrhäxan, he finds that he is too late and that the witch had ritualistically sacrificed the baby before hanging herself. The lore admits that all of the shadowy spirits Olle had encountered in the Swamp were the lost souls of babies sacrificed by the witch that roams the area, making them mylingar. In some corners of Scandenavia, one of the ways you can get a myling is when a mother murders their own baby, confirming that the sacrificed child was her own. Even worse, why would she kill herself? If she did it for the promise of power like the Tome of Eldritch Lore at the cabin promised, did she kill herself as part of the ritual? We saw her practicing noose-tying at the cabin. Was the ritual a failure since Olle had killed Kärrhäxan on his way to her, or was she bewitched by Kärrhäxan so she had no control over herself?
