Fridge / Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger

Fridge Brilliance

  • For the first few episodes, the Boonboomger Robo uses a giant screwdriver as if it was a sword. The same goes for the rod mode for the Boonboom Handle. Anyone who has used a power drill, however, knows that a drill with a screwdriver bit going fast enough will still grind its way through a certain medium. Other rotary tools, however, have much more speed and power, which Taiya and Boondorio could've easily implemented when building the Boonboom Cars in the first placeā€¦ until you realize that the monsters they face are based on screws, or at least feature them in their design. And what better weapon to use against screws than a screwdriver?
  • Boonboomger Robo Nitoryu defeating Tokei Grumer with a 9:15 Slash while the Grumer used a 10:10 Slash could be a nod to how the 9:15 hand position has superseded the 10:10 hand position on the steering wheel while driving.
  • In #5, Genba tossing the Boonboom Change Axe and Booster to Jou might seem to be Deus ex Machina. But being Taiya's collaborator and having skills in procurement, it makes sense he came with the equipment under Taiya's request offscreen and delivered it to Jou once he showed his determination and true passion to protect others, especially the Boonboomgers in a pinch.
  • Why does the Boonboom Booster have a deeper voice than the Changer? While the core three all have standard vehicles you'd expect to see regularly, both Black and Orange have specialized ones that generally aren't seen unless at work (Police cars for Black, and Construction cars for Orange). You'd hardly expect those to be taken for a joyride, hence their Transformation Trinket is as serious as the rest of their gear.
  • It makes perfect sense why MadRex doesn't take foolishness from the Sanseaters lightly. After all, he has small hints of a dog motif while the Sanseaters are more or less a herd of cats. Aside from the classic cat-dog rivalry, cats are notoriously asocial, with lions being the exception, meaning that a group of cats are more likely to fight with each other than they are to cooperate. Dogs, however, are social by nature, meaning that they are much more likely to cooperate with more of their kind (with a few exceptions). And since MadRex is basically Top Dog, it makes perfect sense why he has little patience for the Terrible Trio under his command.
  • Taiya's reluctance to let Jou join the Boonboomgers, as well as Ishiro's suspicion of him, seems rather strange when he's been shown to be an upright police officer who is helpful and honest almost to a fault. But then #8 arrives, revealing that Taiya created the Boonboomgers as a racing team for the Big Bang Grand Prix rather than as a Sentai team dedicated to protecting the world from evil, and that Ishiro and Genba are aware of this. It makes sense that Taiya wouldn't readily approve of someone who would put heroics over his team's real purpose, or that Ishiro would be apprehensive of someone all too willing to join the team without figuring out if they have an ulterior motive.
  • The reason Boonboom Classic and Boonboom Racing are rarely used? Most classic cars don't have modern safety features, so taking them out for usage as a daily driver in the modern era would put the driver at greater risk on roads with high traffic. Race cars, on the other hand, are borderline dangerous for driving on any road aside from a race track, as not only do their tires lack any grooves (while this does increase their grip, this only applies to clean concrete, as any debris, loose material or fluids will cause a loss of traction almost instantly), but their dearth of lights and lower speed settings mean that if they aren't trying to swerve around slower drivers then they're blocking oncoming traffic after a breakdown, which can and will get more dangerous when the sun sets. Certain race cars also have engine blocks that are basically Glass Cannons; they can get the car moving fast, but they require far more frequent maintenance than a normal car engine.
  • While the team is seen having seatbelts getting connected, they otherwise lack any shoulder straps securing them to their cockpit seats. The devil's in the details; the wheels on the back of the suits forming part of the base of the seat aren't just there to be a makeshift go-kart. Taiya's dream reveal makes it even more poignant; they're built-in racing harnesses. Not only do they ensure the driver doesn't fly out of their seat in intense racing scenarios, but the ensure that the Boonboomgers are always secured to the controls in the giant mecha battles.
