* BossAlteringConsequence:
** ''VideoGame/KirbySuperStar'':
*** The game has two battles that can be beaten by picking up some [[InvincibilityPowerUp Invincible Candy]] prior and entering the battle with the invincibility still in effect: Mr. Frosty in Float Islands and Chef Kawasaki in Peanut Plains.
*** The Bonkers battle in Sub-Tree can end just as soon as it starts if you destroy the bridge Bonkers is supposed to land on before he spawns, causing him to fall down the bottomless pit to his doom. If the bridge is destroyed too late, then Bonkers will just leap onto solid ground.
** ''VideoGame/KirbyTripleDeluxe'':
*** The fight with Flame Galboros in stage 5 of Wild World can be bypassed in a similar manner to the Bonkers example from ''Super Star''. If you quickly bring a Time Bomb into the fight and destroy the blocks in the centre of the arena with it as it spawns, the boss will hop into the pit, defeating itself in the process. Not as easy to pull off for its DX counterpart in Dededetour!, though...
*** Endless Explosions Stage 1 has some Invincible Candy placed before a battle with Mr. Frosty. Much like in ''Super Star'''s Float Islands stage, it's entirely possible to enter battle with the invincibility in effect, taking out Mr. Frosty within seconds.
** ''VideoGame/KirbyPlanetRobobot'':
*** Much like the Mr. Frosty examples from ''Super Star'' and ''Triple Deluxe'', the King Doo battle in Patched Plains stage 4 and the second Security Force battle in Access Ark stage 1 can be effectively skipped by entering battle with the Invincible Candy still in effect.
*** Successfully navigating the Remocodroid in stage 2 of the Access Ark to the end of its section and pressing the background switch quickly will drop the Security Force mid-boss down a bottomless pit before it can even get the chance to attack.
** Invincible Candy can finish off Wild Edge in the Circuit Speedway stage in ''VideoGame/KirbyAndTheForgottenLand'' (and must be done to satisfy a certain mission objective for that stage). It can also be done even earlier with the Wild Frosty battle in A Trip to Alivel Mall if the player is super quick.

* VagueHitPoints: Most games in the franchise use a damage-based health meter for both Kirby and bosses. Different attacks can do different damage to enemies, although most regular enemies die in too few hits for it to be noticeable.

** Similarly, the smaller games included in each installment are almost always called "sub-games," not "{{minigame}}s". Instruction manuals sometimes call them minigames or bonus games, but ''VideoGame/KirbysDreamBuffet'' is, so far, the only ''Kirby'' game to unambiguously use the term "minigame" in-game.

** The UsefulNotes/VirtualConsole release of ''VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3'' changes the background colors in the [[BossRush Boss Butch]] Hyper Zone level from yellow, red, and blue to a less-pleasant yellow, orange, and green. This was likely due to increased seizure awareness, as the old colors contrast heavily and scroll on-screen rather quickly.

* HumongousHeadedHammer:
** Hammer is a recurring Copy Ability that lets Kirby attack with a wooden hammer whose head is roughly the same size as the protagonist's body. In ''VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamLand'', it gets a Super variant called Grand Hammer, which can grow ridiculously large and send massive shockwaves across the screen.
** King Dedede's signature weapon is a wooden hammer. Though its size varies in each game, it's nearly the size of the king's own head in most depictions. In ''[[VideoGame/KirbySuperStar Revenge of the King]]'', he replaces it with an [[https://kirby.fandom.com/wiki/King_Dedede?file=KSSU_Masked_Dedede_artwork.png#Masked_Dedede even larger mechanized hammer]].

Drop The Hammer is now a disambiguation page.

Kirby has also been featured as a regular character in the ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' series (also created by Sakurai), and as of ''Brawl'', he is joined by recurring side characters King Dedede (the [[DropTheHammer hammer-wielding]], [[AuthorityInNameOnly self-proclaimed king of Dream Land]] who debuted in the very first game as a villainous character, but later became more of an anti-hero) and Meta Knight (an [[WorthyOpponent honorable]] masked swordsman who first appeared in the second game, and has acted as both [[StealthMentor friend]] and [[DuelBoss foe]]).

* DropTheHammer: Dedede, Bonkers the gorilla, and, in ''Forgotten Land'', Mookie the monkey, the latter two of which Kirby can inhale for (what else?) the Hammer ability. Hammer is used as one of Kirby's B-button moves in the various ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' games, as well as the Smash Bros. ability. Grand Hammer is the Super Ability variant of it that can [[ShockwaveStomp create giant shockwaves with its smashes]].
