The Rizzle is a Short Horror Film by Josh Tanner, made as part of Hulu's Huluween Film Festival.
Elena (Holly Rooth) is a teenage girl watching a video about The Roaring '20s one night, when she comes across a video called "The Rizzle". The video features a man (Steven Bishop) dancing the titular dance, but there's not much information about who posted it. All there is about it in the video description is the sentence "Try The Rizzle if you dare". Elena dares to try it, and soon learns why she shouldn't have.
The film was released on October 1st, 2018.
The Rizzle contains examples of:
- All There in the Manual: None of the characters in the short are ever addressed by name. The only way you know The Protagonist is named "Elena" is because that's the name she's given in the credits.
- By the Lights of Their Eyes: How we see the thing in the Rizzle video when it attacks Elena.
- Curiosity Killed the Cast: Poor Elena really shouldn't have clicked that link to that video. She wouldn't have been the new dancing person in the Rizzle video if she didn't.
- Downer Ending: Elena is caught by the Dancing Man after performing The Rizzle, and ends up as the new Rizzler in the video.
- Perpetual Smiler: The Dancing Man in the video always has a smile on his face, even when he attacks Elena. Elena gains a perma-smile when she gets trapped in the Rizzle video.
- Uncanny Valley: If you look closely during the video, the dancer's eyes and mouth are edited to be just a little too big for his face, and his hands are a little too big. It's our first hint that he isn't entirely human... or at least, not any more. Funnily enough, when Elena is trapped in the video, she doesn't have the same effect on her.
